For those of you keeping track. #41299 a white/black auto was sold in Sugar Land, TX this weekend to a Houston, TX resident.
Thanks, Dave. That is a new number for me. Can you provide any other insight as to mileage, condition, service history, options (e.g. dual a/c), price? John
Sorry I don't remember the mileage. It was a California car brought to Texas sometime in the last 3 years. Overall condition was poor to average. Repaint was of chevy quality. It had lots of aftermarket wiring that was poorly done; cruise control, msd box, etc. 3 wheels color matched, 1 was an off color. Didn't like to start or run very well. It had a tough life. Sold for $24,500.
That sounds like pretty high money for a car in that condition, no? I was perusing some classifieds today and saw a 12k mile black/tan 84 5spd for 34k and a 25k mile blue/tan 85 5spd for 29,9k. I'd imagine either would resell better than white on a 400, though I'd have no qualms whatsoever about owning a white one.
The new owner has it up on ebay already. Pretty funny, read the part about the "rare factory cruise control..." <laugh> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120092583886
This statement makes no sense: "I purchased the vehicle recently, as an investment, from a very nice local, family man, whose family has owned the vehicle since the early 1990s (they purchased it from the original owner in California back in 1999." How could they have owned it since the early 90s, but only bought it in 1999? I think the seller is full of crap!
This cracked me up: "Domestic AND International SHIPPING IS FREE (upon completion of an ebay online auto transaction, at the original Buy It Now Price of $44,838)." Pay that price and he could pay for shipping just about anywhere and still have made a sweet deal on the price. Would be interesting to check all those records and see if they match the history. John

Reads like an entirely different car! Why would the taillights be reversed if the car has never been painted or had accident damage? Inquiring minds would like to know.
The tail lights aren't reversed...that's how they should be. White on black is very nice. So has the car been refreshed since Dave's damning 2007 post?
Excellent pictures, thanks. Is the toolkit holder (very rare item by the way) the right way up in the spare wheel?
Oops, my mistake. I was looking at the one with the taillights on and the inside lights looked orange, like the turn signals, in that photo. They are oriented correctly with the turn signals on the outboard sides. What is the story between the cheap repaint in 2007 and almost all original paint in 2014?
John, I've heard that some Amerispec imported cars (including mine) had the tail lights reversed in order to avoid having to install a rear side reflector.

Ed, if my records are correct, you've owned this car since 2007 and have driven it more than 25,000 miles during that time, so congratulations on owning and driving one of the great cars for all these years! Let's see: Known ownership history for many years: Check Long term enthusiast owner: Check Driven regularly: Check Maintained properly: Check I have not seen the car nor do I have any kind of financial interest in the sale of this car but those are four characteristics that I think warrant "Check"-ing this out. Good luck with the sale and hopefully to another enthusiast. Edit: Your post and my post probably should be removed from this thread so as not to detract from the discussion about 41299 and placed in its own thread with your serial number in the title, for easier reference in the future.
