I have the tools and jack etc for my 74 365 but nothing to remove the wheel spinners.

I assume there should be a mallet, does anyone have one for sale, what does it look like and where does it live in the boot (trunk to you odd Americans)? Photos would be appreciated.

Hmmmm. Trunk instead of boot - makes no sense whatsoever. Honestly, whatever next. Maybe pronounce Aluminium without the last "I" or say the letter "Z" as "Zee" rather than "Zed"

    Just plain stupid.....

I bought one of the tools that slips on the spinner and uses 3/4 drive breaker bar. I used the mallet a couple of times and couldn't stand the idea of hitting the car with a hammer. If you use the hammer becareful and don't miss and hit the rim.

Thanks Jim, to be honest I was wary of using a mallet for exactly the same reason.

I didn't know about the removal tool but will get one as this suits me far better and is far less likely to do damage.

I'll still try to get an original mallet if one crops up.

Oh you poor dear, Russell, you just don't realize that it is you Brits who are nonsensical by calling your rear luggage area a piece of footwear. How silly is that?

We Americans, on the other hand, saw the evolution from having the luggage carried behind old classic era cars in a steamer trunk literally strapped onto a luggage rack (I suppose that you Brits called those "boot trees" to be consistent) and, when the luggage storage area became an integral part of the body work, the term "trunk" logically continued.

If the letter "Z", pronounced Zee over here but pronounced "Zed" on your side of the pond makes some sort of sense to you, why then do you not extend that custom to other letters, such as "Bed", "Ced", "Ded", "Eed", "Ged", "Ted" and so on? Seems arbitrary to me not to do that.

As for adding superfluous letters to words such as colour, favour and aluminium, I won't comment on the penchant for making something more complicated than it needs to be. Although I will concede that "lift" is less complicated than "elevator". :)

Given the price of OE Ferrari tools you may wish to simply invest in a "dead blow" hammer for a few quid and save a lead one for show.

For originality sake I will get a proper mallet at some point but would rather invest in the removal tool now even though its expensive - I find the idea of hitting something that's precious to you with a hammer quite disturbing.

The one exception being my other half at least 87% of the time......

Oh they'll get around to adopting our spelling and phraseology/idioms eventually.

They're just being a bit trunkulent about it all...

    For Ashman
Really sorry to take so long to post
You are absolutely correct about the Brits calling parts of a car after their footwear, Completely ridiculous!
How about calling the rear luggage compartment a part of an Elephantine anatomy & the engine cover an item of headgear like we do!?????
FWIW I use the expensive special tool & bar to remove the spinners from Hill Engineering in the UK
I have damaged both lead hammer & knock offs in the past
    Regards

52 oz no mar dead blow order from your local auto parts, or hardware store or online. No chipped chrome and tight hubs. Good luck. Remember the arrow is the direction to remove. This one is made by Stanley

I see 300# was recommended torque with the adapter tool.
What is/was the recommended tightening procedure from the factory using the lead hammer? Bash it silly?
