It looks like it will be expensive to restore. What are your plans for it, restore or parts car? If a parts car you may be able to get some money back selling parts to me. :)

    Cheers Al

    Whatever floats your boat.
The instruments are aftermarket and there are a couple of bits missing.

But if you like the shape of the car, that is there, and there are plenty of engines and boxes, which will give the same performance or better for much lower running costs.

    Or for spares.

The world is you oyster! Make of it what you wish!.

I have a friend who built a 250 replica, based on the underpinnings of a modern Ferrari which had been written off with the top damaged.

He has a small toy model that can fit in your hand. That was the aim. Over a three year period he has constructed the bodywork in aluminium sheeting, even hand crafted a stainless steel window surround and used some of the original parts.
It has the looks of a 1960 car, but with the innards of a 2000.
You would not be able to see it does not come straight out of the factory!
    Stunning.!
So only your imagination provides your limits.

All depends on how much you paid for it. If you paid less than what you could sell the glass and the front indicator lenses for, you're probably good.

to be honest Mitch, it's about what I would have expected...and while the pics don't really tell me too much, I can say that, at a glance, I probably have the pieces we need.

touch base when you've had a better look...and post some more pics so we can have a better look...it's hard to tell, but does it have 365 leather ?

I do love the colour...and if you want to go to a 400 interior, I have a complete spare in black, which would look awesome over that blue exterior.

Just curious, Mitch. With California plates, is there a California BAR sticker on that chassis?

That could be worth something in itself!

Well...post some pics of that interior. One interesting thing is that the car is uncut...no front or rear side markers. Shame someone let it rot so far. Can't tell how rusty it is. Is that just surface rust or is there more hidden?

I see the shifter...is the aftermarket transmission still in the car?

I will admit to being somewhat worried about you, and thinking that you had better sense. Hearing that you have a motor and tranny puts me at rest. I am no longer questioning your judgement.

Rather, now, it will be interesting and fun. Which is always a big part for me, and I suspect you.

I wouldn't do what Paul has had to do to bring that car back. But I would go after the rust where it hides. Set the suspension up right when it is time. The rest of the stuff will all work out I hope.

You probably will have a new interior in the end, as you have few preconditions. I would even use artistic license in the interior..

Have you considered those blue LEDs for the instruments?

    No?

    Good. :)

I need to see more pics Mitch...and, again, I have a '79 parts car that I believe will fill many/most of the 'gaps'...you also have solid connections on bumpers and steering parts...

what about all the boxes of new parts that you mentioned ?

Mitch, I'm sure you are aware that you could buy a pristine example for less than what a resto shop will charge you to piece this back together. Of course if you want something not exactly concourse restored then maybe you are on the right track.
I remind you that long distance restorations have a way of running off the rails and you could end up with work that is less than satisfactory.
Make sure that you can follow the work IN PERSON. Phone conversations and e-mails lead to misunderstandings and bad results.
