Thought I'd share a few pictures taken at car shows in the UK in the 90s. Anybody else got some old pics of these cars they'd like to share? The black 412 is the one in the Bonhams auction on Sunday (taken at the Silverstone Classic in 1996). The red 400i belonged to the musician Chris Rea. I'll dig out some more if there's interest. Wow, coincidence. I've been going through old photos today too This 365 is from the Doune classic weekend 1990. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting, there was a thread here a while back on that white 365, a former owner's son was trying to trace the car (17815). Here's 63657, a 5 speed, the only RHD 412 in Verde chiaro metallic, at the FOC concours in about 1996. It won its class in 2000 and I remember it being in beautiful condition. This car was featured in a Twin test against a Jag V12 in Performance Car magazine (they were quite complimentary). It was bought new by the late Martin Fairston from Col. Ronnie Hoare at the Motor Show. It has been unlicensed since 2005....where is it now? I will try to dig out some more photos during the weekend. Image Unavailable, Please Login
#17219 : the dark blue cream leather 365 GT4 2+2 #17815 : the white black leather 365 GT4 2+2. Yes the son of a past owner put an add on pistonheads to get news of the car, last year. I love this color ! #37291 : the green black leather 400i Automatic #48233 : the red tan leather 400i Automatic #61389 : the black cream leather 412 Automatic #63257 : fantastic color. What is the plate on this picture ? I know it under MF1 and 9907VB
I think the plate is B2 VFM - it was changed to 9907VB around 1999 (and that is the last plate it has had). Regarding your second question...that's a tricky one...let me see if I can find a list of concours entrants for that year in that category, then match the owners to the cars...
Here is a pdf of the magazine test. Readable, but not a great scan. Had to split it as FC limits upload to 2.38mb. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had a Daimler double six many years ago and while it was a fabulous car I wouldn't of said it had the character of a 4 seat supercar as stated in the article.
As promised, here are a few more, all from events in 1993. Apologies for the poor quality. They are as follows: 17545 365 - 24 NYB - (now in the Hellenic museum, Athens) 17365 365 - TLN 180M 27741 400GT - 834 JBM - (now in France) 37767 400iA - FFG 400X - (achieved 4th place in the FOC concours at Elton Hall that year in the First time entrants category. The car hasn't been licensed in the UK since 1994 - where is it now?). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Paul I took this photo. I seem to remember it was a RHD car registered in the Channel Islands. Not sure whether it was a 5-speed or automatic. It was gorgeous though! Aidan

The article mentions a 'complicated Blaupunkt Radio' in the 412. I have an Alpine in mine but in the leather document wallet there are instructions for a Blaupunkt New York SQR 05. I assume this is the original !
Yes, I have a Blaupunkt New York in mine which I understand is original. Still trying to work out what all the buttons are for! Tend to only use the tape player and not the radio in case I forget to retract the aerial when I return to the garage.
Right , thanks ..... Better check ebay for a New York and just hope that the wiring up is straight forward .
Dear all, Ramboy, thanks for posting this/ these shots!!! The red 400i of Chris Rea fame is my car, and is currently for sale on ebay UK...anyone with a sensible offer on the UK side of the pond may contact me on these means. I am needing to realise some cash quickly, so please do ask! Item number - 131177236832 Thanks David H-S.
#63657 - that is a truly gorgeous car. I would go for it in a heartbeat if it ever came up for sale!!!
Here's a nice line up from 1993. Think it was at Silverstone. From left to right: 365 - #17563 400iA (blue) - #32517 400iGT S2 - #50157 (an ex-Robert Michaels car). Image Unavailable, Please Login
David, I can honestly say that your car looks as nice today as it was when I took the photos (probably in 1996 at the concours). Good luck with the sale. David
