I have tried Randazzo, T Rutlands, and several other vendors to hopefully obtain a replacement shift "gate" for the interior on my automatic 400i. The car has been quietly undergoing a full mechanical, cosmetic, and exterior restoration for a while on now which I will inevitably report on after more progress is achieved.

In the meantime, can anybody please point me to a part supplier that could either have this part in stock or could order it for me? If someone could chime in with the the part number it would be greatly appreciated.

We have attempted to restore/refurbish and/or replace any and all cosmetic parts imaginable but this one piece is alluding me...

Based on the difficulty thus far in attempting to locate it, I can imagine its scarcity but do hope there's a new one out there somewhere.

    Thanks in advance.

Enzo wasn't afraid to use off the shelf items from other manufacturers. Maybe I'm all wet but this has always looked like a Chrysler part to me, are there any numbers on it?

It is a Fiat part, 131 or 132 from late '70's or early '80's. I've seen pictures of them; they are a 4-door sedan. I thought I saw a Jag with one similar but all of the Jag auto's are similar but curved outward. I hunted high and low and this is best I came up with.

Some of our Euro members may be able to track one down.

Good call Ken. Sure looks like a Fiat 131 Automatic part. Here is a picture...

Keep in mind that there were various versions of the 131, some with different interior setups.

And wow..here is a Fiat 132 interior. Man, I think finding a 132, 131 or 130 would be just as hard as someone parting a 400/400i/412. hah..

Has anyone attempted to repaint, restore or otherwise improve the aesthetics of theirs? There are a few of us with automatics and these parts get worn, especially after close to 30 years of use!

My shift gate it was like your. I did make letters adhesive, sanded the part where they were like and your stuck on it. The result is not exceptional but it suits a bit.

I have used a hobbyist's "chrome" film to restore some bezels in the past. It looks nice but doesn't stand up to abrasion too well. Perhaps a coat of lacquer over it would help this.

Wow bord...that looks great. I'd almost keep the all black and not worry about the chrome.

I have an appointment with a brush manufacturer tomorrow to redo the hair (of my shift gate, of course! But, why not...)
Your attention is necessary because the store where I'm going tomorrow there since 1814:

Is there anyone in the past who replaced the OEM V12 for 2002 V8 GM LT1 ? I got my car which the engine has been replaced by 2002 GM V8 LT1 and that engine's not connected to any gauges in my dash ! I'm just wondering if anyone got the electrical schematic how to connect those 2 systems together ! I need to have the OEM RPM / Temp / Oil Gauges to work with GM harness / computer.
    Thanks

Hello everybody. It was I who did the restoration. I can do it for anyone who wants to, provided they pay for the products. For brushes it is necessary to count 20 $, for painting 15 $ and 15 $ for the figures (P RND 21) to paste. The labor is free, it is for the conservation of our 400. You can pay once the work is done.
You can write me at [email protected]

Ce n'est que du plaisir (It's just fun, in in the language of shakespeare)

And for those who are reluctant to send the concerned party. I can send the brushes and the numbers. For do-it-yourselfers this is not very difficult. Simply sand the plastic well. Put two coats of black satin bomb paint. Sand the part that receives the numbers, paste them. Wait until the paint is dry. Glue the brushes.
Drink a good glass, eat a good piece of meat or tofu for vegetarian. Make a game of billiards.
Once the part is repaired and dry, replace it again.
    Drink a good glass .....
