Good day All, I was curious what type of material was originally used on your dashes (console, etc)? I spent some time digging and found that it could be the (in)famous Mousehair or a vinyl with embossing. 18875 (365) looks to be original and is vinyl... Sadly, it has some slight damage from what looks to have been from something affixed to it (perhaps a radar detector?), but also some seams are letting go as well. As a consequence I would like to address these issues and use the correct material. Thanks in advance! Cheers, Sam
According to Keith Bluemel in his excellent book "Original Ferrari V12" which includes the 365 GT4 2+2, the dash and centre console are covered in alcantara, but it is often referred to as mousehair. I've seen it(incorrectly) replaced by leather many times.
This material seems to be impossible to find today. Every car I know with dash redone do not look as it was originally. This material was fragile and its thickness was thin. Used, it became a sort of animal skin without hairless. Mousehair, vinyle, alcantara...don't know the exact name and exact material.
I certainly can't speak definitively for every 365 GT4 2+2 Sam, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't 'mousehair' originally. Paul, HVL in NL makes the best available, imho. HVL Mitch, not MIE...even your Merak material was from HVL...but the Ferrari material is different than the Maserati material. Good day All, Thanks again for the info and the pictures Brett! Unless 18775 had all is "hair" wiped off (perhaps 19775's dash is/was follically challenged ), it is as smooth as a baby's bum ... well ... so to speak. I will post some pics this weekend. Cheers, Sam

Hi Marco, I'm keen to get about one square foot of the mouse hair to repair the two sides on the front dash. I looked at the Italian web link but I only read English. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
I' ve found another potential supplier, should be able to speak English and ship material overseas... if not, please feel free to email to me and I'll try and help ! From looking at the photos of your car, Mitch, it appears that some of the 365's were offered with manual crank windows. Yours are power? I can't see the switches but the door panels show what look like "window crank delete" cover plates. Or is the circle on the door interior panel for some other purpose?
Good day David, I seem to remember my old 308GT4 (?) having a "crank" to allow for the event of a power window mechanism failure... and thus access to the motor is via this port... which is then covered. Looking at the owner's manual (Item E) it appears to be the case... "Emergency Control for Side Window". Cheers, Sam Image Unavailable, Please Login
There must be more "Lucas, Prince of Darkness" components inside. Otherwise, why plan for such an uncommon occurrence.
