I find it interesting that the current FML has no cars in our series listed. Any thoughts? Just a quirk or are owners finally becoming aware of the value of these cars and are unwilling to sell into a dead market?

Don't forget they are also one of the rarest Ferraris.

I have seen this many times before when an uptick occurs in certain classics. When a few jump in value and the market is not fully established or realized, the owners or potential sellers sit on the sidelines until prices stabilize. Which of course can help to advance the move upward faster than normal. Tried and true supply and demand kicks in.

I sold a 365 GTC back in 1997 for $50k and always loved the way it drove. Not to mention the sound. Even though I have not seen the car I bought 1 month ago I wouldn't even consider selling it for double before enjoying it. There is something to be said for the kind of driving experience you get from a front engine V12 with Webers. I suspect most owners will feel similarly. What is the next valued V12 Ferrari you can buy from 1980 and back? Quite a distance that will be made up I think.

I noticed the same thing yesterday when looking at Hemmings. There was just one 365 GT/4 and no 400/412s.

    I know; fewer 412's built (576) than 330GTC's (600).

I completely agree with the earlier comment that the experience of owning and driving the car is the top attribute and expectation. Any appreciation is gravy and repairs come with the territory. Depreciation is unlikely right now but if they grow in value over the next few years one must mentally prepare for that as well.

It's like my son's coach said when he was 7 years old (now 16) "If you had fun, you won!"
