I want it.......just not the potential bankruptcy which comes attached!
But if one were to set out to buy a needy 400, then I suppose LHD/5 speed/carbs/great colour is a good starting point.
    Best. Mark.

Why is the estimate so low?
This is a carb 5 speed. It should sell north of $40k.

looks to me that the cabin was suitable for making fromage. Definitely mold alert there if you look at the coloring of the leather. Exterior color is superb. Seeing the interior photo reminds me to ask if anyone has headrests that stay up?

This is a car from the recent huge Baillon 'barn find'.
It's probably been sitting around for a long time

Lots of tragedy in that story. The cars were never lost, just under the control of a kooky old man who neglecred them for decades. I'm sure the heirs are relieved to unload the cars the buildings etc.

Personally, that is a fair price for European market. However, I think both NADA and KBB are over-pricing the actual value of the 365/400/412.
Last year, I saw a 79 Ferrari 400 in a very good condition but the owner is asking $40,000 (and it is automatic)
I understand not too many were imported to the US, but, the price needs to be re-evaluated.

Yes, the 2 key words in their description of the car.....''once restored...'' says it all. You should by experience know what it is you are buying. BUT, once restored it should be valued accordingly.
Currently working on my own 400i restoration.........the blisters in the paint beneath the rear screen were supported by fresh air. The rear panel under the rear screen had rotted out from side to side, and the rot had extended down through the parcel shelf etc etc. Thankfully, this is the worst bit on the car, but without your own bodyshop, you would not want the bill for fixing it properly, as evidenced by the previously bodged up repairs. My car had also been laid up for 15 years, so this Artcurial Auction car could come with all the wrong, but hidden faults. Not for those of a nervous disposition, I would guess. Still, I wouldn't mind a pop at it, if only the steering wheel was on the right side of the car.........

What kind of issues would one be aware, if considering to buy this one?
    rust -well there should be.
engine -does it run, chain tensioner, carburator tuning
    What else?

I have adjusted carburator ones for one 400, change oil and so forvard, kind of liked that car and since I got all other models from that era, it would suit just fine.

This 400 is going through auction in the next few hours with an estimate of €12,000-16,000. So far, almost every car has at least gone for twice as much as the estimate. What do we think this will go for?

Or this was one of the 147 5-speed carbed 400s with quite a provenance. :)
