Too bad a Series I 400i had to die to let this exist. A quote from the listing: "400i's are kind of ugly so I gave it a facelift."

Even the engine is gone as he used a Maserati unit.

And a V6 at that. Is the extra carb a dummy?

Yeah, I posted a few days ago. If you search the serial number here, you'll find posted pictures how it used to be....including some of the later sales history.

Picture shows a V8 so he can't even get his listing right, but if it had the Ferrari V12 in it at least it would have some cachet.

The V12 was long gone before the conversion.....I don't know if anyone here knows where it ended up.

Wouldn't it be easier to build an early chassis replica from scratch?

Not for the price this donor was purchased for.
Not a bad end for something that would have never been restored anyway.

I agree. It's actually kind of impressive.

Here are the pictures of the last ad for the donor on ebay:

There was not a lot of that left that could have been restored into a running 400i.

Although not my tastes, it is an interesting project to have pulled off. He appears to do interesting work. Here are pictures for the record:

I bet it is fun to drive. Bodywork looks very pretty.

Not my taste either but for the cost of a dirt cheap Ferrari chassis and an even less desirable (probably Q-porte III) engine/trans this fellow can turn a nice profit.

I really admire the skill it takes to build something like this but for the record, I think the 400i was prettier.
