They had it for sale for A$95,000 a year ago, and it was for sale for NZ$65,000 the year before that. That's the market for you. #46725 is ex-Shaun Bealey and was featured in Car Magazine I believe (Aug 1984). One of only 9 RHD 400i Series 2 manuals. So it is definitely rare.
I know you do Only 9 of the series 2 RHD 400i manuals. That's pretty certain. Series 2 - revised interior, smaller door mirrors, exposed front fog lights, etc. Approximately 23 of the series 1 RHD 400i manuals. I say approximately as some conflicting information here - as usual with Ferrari.
Not quite as cool but still nice to know I have one of the approximately 23 series 1! The engine is taking shape, won't be on the road for a while, but all the parts are in!
About $28,000. This Series 2 has the old Series 1 mirrors on it. Listing mentions having low miles on it but has an engine rebuild @ a 'monumental expense'! I ask: 1.) Low miles and a rebuild, & no miles listed?? Uh oh 2.) They state "the reason for the rebuild was the gas filled valves, of which one failed". Not sure what that means
Little known fact that all Shaun Bealey's 400s and 412 came with the larger mirrors - he liked them that way - so it's not a red flag in this case. It was advertised with 55,000 km (34,000 miles) in November 2013. I'm not a mechanic but agree that it's unusual that an engine rebuild was required at such low mileage.
Thanks for the promo Simon. I still think these are good value compared to other Ferraris, or other equivalent exotics, even at this price. Not buying though.
You can buy a 550/575 for that money. Its cool when something is rare and high desire. This is rare but a serious 400 nut would have to be out there to pay that cash at this point in time. But maybe in a decade or two it may be worth a lot more like a 330 2+2.
