Hello, Can anyone tell me how big, in particular how wide, a 365 or 400 engine with carbs is? I am think of using one for my 330 GT 2+2 project, if it would fit without me having to mutilate the 330 engine bay. Regards Alan
Good day, Across the top of the engine from Carb box lid to Carb box lid (remember these engines are side draft) is 92 cm (just over 3 feet). Cheers, Sam
The engine is 35 inches wide from the outside of the air intake stacks on the carbs with the air boxes off. The engine is 41 inches front to rear from the front of the air conditioning mounting bracket to the back of the distributor mount. These seem to be the longest points. The engine is 26 inches high from the bottom of the oil pan to highest parts of the carburetors with the air boxes off. If you need pictures PM me your email, I have one that is complete and running setting in my shop floor for sale, includes everything from the throttle linkage to the oil cooler and hoses except the alternator. Thanks Sam and Chuck, much appreciated. Bundas, either a 365 GT4 2+2 or 400 GT engine. Is there a difference in their size?
I think Bundas is sort of highjacking the thread to ask if you wanted to buy one of his motors he has for sale. At least, that's the best my Bundas-translator works today, haha.
It is a 400 out of a 1977 400GTA but I have a clutch flywheel so it can be used with either an auto or manual trans. It will interchange with a 365GTC/4, 365GT4 2+2 or 400 auto or manual. I took it out of a running 1977 400GTA to use in my 365GTB/4 Daytona as a driver but with the prices of the cars getting so high I have decided I had better stay with the original Daytona engine.
