Hi - any idea how I can determine build date for my car (set 64247, 1986 412). I'm looking to order suspension bushings but a change was made 31 March 1986 so I'm trying to figure out where my car falls within that window. Thanks in advance. Dave
Hello Dave, I am not certain the build date of the car would point at the exact part for the replacement bushing in every scenario. My thinking is as follows: if it had been a design change of the car, the transition would be related to e.g. a chassis number. Because the change is related to just a date, it could be a change of the supplied assembly (lower front wishbone) without a change of design. Assuming the above is true, the build date of the car would only give the correct response if this date is at or before 31 Mar 1986, because during this period only the "old" version of the assembly should be available in the factory stock. If the build date is after 31 March 1986, the factory stock can potentially contain both versions of the assembly ("old" and "new"). But of course this is just one possible version of what happened in reality. 5 parts are concerned with the change: the two levers, and the associated bushings, forks, screws and locking nuts. Perhaps these can be distinguished by their appearance/dimensions etc... by somebody who has access to the two versions of the assembly.
Thanks for the reply. This is in Superformance's online catalog: (412: with lower front wishbone #125685 - until 31st March 1986) It appears that the changeover was driven on a specific date. I'll see if I can find a part number on the wishbone. Dave
I have: -ZFFSA17A2G0063901: TESTAROSSA, US, Rosso Corsa/Tan: April 1986 -ZFFYD24B000064247: 412 Automatic -ZFFSA17A9G0064253: TESTAROSSA, US, Bianco/Rosso: May 1986 -ZFFSA17A6G0064873: TESTAROSSA, US, Rosso/Tan: May 1986 Assuming Ferrari built in 1986 about 330 cars per months (means 660 for odd s/n), we can imagine your 412 had been built late April or early May 1986. Fred.
Thanks Fred - very helpful. I will see if I can find a P/N on the arm to confirm it is the later model. Dave
