What type of tool kit should a 1981 series 1 400i have? Brief case or do they come with a roll? Thanks
Good day Paul, Not to confuse the issue... but here are some pics from the parts and owners manuals: 1980 Parts Manual 400 / 400 GT - Shows a Tool Case 1979 Owners Manual 400i - Diagram shows a tool case (item A) 1983 Parts Manual 400i (From Eurospares) - Kidney shaped Tool case Cheers, Sam Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The 1982 owner manual 400i (250/82 second series) shows a kidney shaped tool case, page 115 Please note on the 1979 owner manual 400i (176/79 first series) page 125 the "holder" of the tool case which secures it inside the spare wheel. Attached a picture from this part (inside the spare wheel) which belongs to a 365 GT4 2+2 and which is common to 365 GT4 2+2, 400 and 400i first series. The second picture shows the tool case in position, apologies it is a bit blurred. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I contacted the previous owner from 2005 and found my holder. Paid $100 for it and later saw one on Ebay for $650 I think. But the tool kit and case cost me $4000! And I still need a lead hammer, reflector set, jack, and ratchet handle. I have the bag and extension. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2120054&stc=1&d=1440644621 https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2120056&stc=1&d=1440644776 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Do you have a part number for the plastic tray that the tool kit locates in? On line parts doesn't show it and I'm pretty light on 400 literature of my own right now. Thanks
I have a OEM spare parts catalog from the 81 400i I used to own I just checked and could not find that part. Unless I'm not looking in the right place. Also I'm the one that sold the tool kit to Scott. I still have an 1981 owners manual, the tool roll for the jack etc, and several other things. Contact me if you're interested in any of these things. Hello, Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a part number for this holder. There is one such item on eBay: Ferrari 365 Tool KIT Spare Tire Holder Tray GTC4 OEM | eBay
I think I'll hire that Randazzo fella to part out my whole car for me. Ought to have enough for a new one after that.
No kidding! I laugh at his line "selling off years of old Ferrari inventory" meanwhile you can track what he buys on eBay and just relists at double the price.
