The 400 is more expensive than the BB.

That was a surprise to me too... If only today's prices mirrored BBs!

Also surprising (to me at least), the 400 costs a great chunk more than 308s. Quite interesting.

    Thanks for sharing these Russ!

Don't get too excited, the 330 GT 2+2 was more expensive than the 275 GTB/4 :D

Just because it costs more new and is more expensive to restore, has nothing to do with value...

    Regards,

    Art S.

Very interesting Russell, thanks for sharing
I was told that 365/400/412 remained the most expensive car on Ferrari list, from 1972 to 1989... Does anybody know whether is true or urban legend 😊?

The BB and Testarossa were priced slightly above the 365/400/412 in most markets when new (apart from Australia it seems). I wouldn't be surprised if for example the 412 cost more to produce than the Testarossa, so pricing may have been determined more on "political" considerations given that the two seater V12s were stated to be the flagship production models.

I can't believe I scanned and posted that same ad 8 years ago, amazing how time flies.

The 4xx series cars where amongst the expensive 'standard' Ferrari in the markets where they where sold, it was only the special cars ( 288, F40 ) that where more expensive.

Still very similar now, with the FF and F12 priced nearly the same.

Thanks for posting that pic Mike.

I came across your old post on Saturday night while sitting here bored in the dark - we had a blackout for about 6 hours. I liked it so much I posted it on Facebook in the 365,400,412 appreciation page & I see it has been shared 27 times already. Some of the sites it was shared on have over 100 likes & it even came full circle back to ferrarichat. :)

Thanks again for the initial post.

    Cheers Al

The 365/400/412's have got the Daytona V-12 derivative, 5-6 hides, & several more pounds of Ferrari goodness...:D
