Just saw this listing at Aaldering (formerly Brummen). Nice car and very nice price - $129k Euro ($143k US). No VIN listed that I can find. Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2, original condition, European car, one of only 525 built! Coupé 1974 | Gallery Aaldering
The 365GT4 2+2 is more of a sports car than a 400, having a more sporting austere interior and knock off wheels and being lighter in weight its a better performer along with a better sounding exhaust system.
GT4 2+2 has the same interior as the 400GT. (Except mousehair dash?). More of a sports car? not quite. Same exhaust system I believe. you are right about the knock off wheels.....but that's about it. Six tail lights instead of the four.....no front spoiler.......500 less revs for the 400.....but that's about it.
Thought they were at least 200 kilos lighter?? Which makes a real difference... I go and check that..
also has 365 name which relates it easier to the "classics" where as 400/412 seem to have been tarnished over the years as they had auto box etc.
The weight of the 365 GT4 2+2 is very similar to that of the 400. I have measured the weight of my 2 365 GT4 2+2's against the weight of other cars of the same family (400 to 412) and found a very small difference, I could say within the margin of error of the measurement. The range of weight was 1,790kg to 1,820kg for all the cars measured, with all liquids, battery, spare wheel, large and small tool kits.
365 GT4 2+2 - 1800kg without driver 400GT - 1880kg without driver 365 GT4 2+2 has two resonators and one rear silencer pr. cylinder bank. 400GT has three resonators and one rear silencer pr. cylinder bank. The 365 GT4 2+2 may feel more pure and sporty but the numbers tell a different story - they are about the same : http://www.automobile-catalog.com/auta_cmp2.php Worth noting is that the two first production years had 340hp at 6800rpm and the later had 320hp at 6200rpm.
Thanks for the datas Rovexenius. I have just been checking the notices and Ferrari tells 1500 kg for the 365 which looks really optimistic compared to what you have noticed... And misleaded me by the way! Never trust a dealer!
Yes The owner manual says the weight of the 365 GT4 2+2 is 1.790kg or 3.940 lbs (page 89, manual 75/73). I would be curious to know where the 1.500kg figure comes from (car without the engine maybe?). In all cases 1.500kg would put this car in the same power to weight ratio configuration as a 512 BBi, which for me is pretty close to a missile on wheels.
Drivetrain from a 365 GTC/4 Knock-offs Carbs 5-speed I believe the carbed 400 5-speed is the next most desirable, but I could be wrong.
