Hi everybody, Looking like a Neiman below for my 400. Anyone knows it where I can find one? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bonjour Theodore, Are you looking for the Key or the entire lock assembly? If you are looking for a Key there is a fellow in 308 section that has made some really nice repos... if you are looking for the full assembly, then check the usual sources (Ebay, Ferrari UK, GT Car Cars in Phoenix AZ, allferrariparts.com, etc). Cheers, Sam
Merci Sam That's the entire part I need. It's very hard to find and I do not know if I can find it at Fiat, Alfa and Lancia, as is the case for some other Ferrari parts. I have the Ferrari part number 127298. I continue my research and tell you this. Theodore
Check with the guys at Tom Vail's All Ferrari Parts, Ferrari Spares, Vintage Parts Dennis McCann's old company. Despite the fact that their website search function is a mess, an email to them will reveal if they have it. The part was used on several Ferraris, so it's pretty likely. http://www.Eurospares.co.uk indicates that they have a used one in stock. Is the objective to find an inexpensive replacement? I don't see an equivalent Alfa part # yet. D
Bonjour Theodore, You are most welcome! Understood... you need the complete assembly including the key. As Dave mentioned this assembly is used on a number of other Ferraris too... 308's, BBs, etc. and so one of the usual car "breakers" may have a used one available. Another source for these kind of parts is GT Car parts in Arizona (Tel: 623-780-2200). I believe the best way to contact them is via the telephone, as I have heard that they are not very responsive via e-mail. Also, these assemblies do come up from time to time on Ebay.. with varying prices. One seller in particular, a Tony Randazzo, tends to offer parts are very high prices... but I guess if one needs the part badly one will pay. Good luck with your search! Cheers, Sam
Thank you Dave and Sam I am a regular customer of Eurospares I asked. I'm afraid by the price !!! I continue my research Theodore
Theodore I believe the lock assembly is BMW sourced not Fiat or Alfa. I replaced the electric switch at the back and it is BMW. The key is German so that should be a hint.... Ken
Theo, regarde ca! Maybe the same. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/327351-original-ignition-steering-lock-cylinders.html
Hello Ken, where did you find the electric part? Hello Claude, merci pour le lien, This is exactly the same on the 308. Mick (8valve) was one available but in 2011. Perhaps did it again, I sent him a message. Thank you again to all, Theodore
Theodore The BMW part # is: 61-31-2-682-120. It was used on 1970-76 models 1600, 2002, 2002ti. Part should be available at any BMW dealer; he may have to order from warehouse. Alternate is any BMW specialist as those models should still be very available in Europe. Price was about $50 as I remember. This part will fix the 'sloppy key' in the switch; there is a good thread that led me to solving my problem. It took me about 15 minutes to change the switch. Pull the Speedo or is it the Tach above the switch. Mark the wire colors on the old switch using a mirror and light. I think two screws hold the switch in. Remove the wires, remove the old switch, put in the new secured with old screws and connect the wires per you sketch. Très facile. Ken
Ken thank you, but what part are you talking 1 or 2 in the picture below? In my Neiman is the part 1 is defectuous. Aidan, I'm still interested. Theodore Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am talking about part 2. But go to the car odels I stated and see what they have for Part 1. That is where I would start.
Theodore If you are still looking I also have a part 1 (internal cylinder) that is broken on Ferrari Part #127298. Rather than buying a used one that may have micro-stress cracks in it I am having the cylinder machined from scratch using the broken piece as a guide. They are just finishing the drawings so it is still a few weeks away from the first sample.
Does anyone know if a new key can be made for the lock when the original key has been lost. Any help on someone that can do it.
Years ago, I was in this very spot. I took the lock assembly to a certified master locksmith along with the broken key head ( the key had broken off and was still inserted in the lock). What the locksmith showed me was inanely simple...unscrew the black ignition module and you will see the key sticking out..push/pull it out. The black module is melted/fried, and that is the source of your problem. Take the old key to the shop and use a Taylor or Ilco blank.. Make a few. I have posted the module part no. on this and various Fchat forums multiple times. BMW 2002 part. ,.$100.00usd. That all being said. I got soooo tired of this recurring adventure, so I bi-passe the black ignition module with a standard american universal model and mounted in the center console where the dummy gen/alternator plate is . Perfect, no mods required. and no more problems. Lights first time, every time. Just like a Ronson lighter (and a Sherman Tank). Buy two of those modules, as you will need them over and over again. Plus they are getting rarer and rared every year. I hope that this helps someone. Jq.
This may be off subject but I have found a source for duplicate key blanks, Robert Clark. He recently contacted me to let me know he has found some more blanks. I purchased several and they work perfectly. Here is the web address-www.clarkandclarkinc.com
