Hello All I'm hoping the collective knowledge of the kind people on here can tell me where these are available other than at Eurospares. I'm searching for the Cabin air fan blower motor as in the photo. I know they were used in Jaguars or other English cars I think? It is a Spal part in the picture but somebody mentioned that it could be a Smith part. These are missing from my car. I look forward to hearing from you. Jim Image Unavailable, Please Login
Contact Ashley Hinton at Ashley Hinton - Manufacturer of Body Panels, Heaters and Accessories for MG and Austin Healey. He can certainly supply the Smiths units which look the same to me - they are very similar. We use him a lot for new parts and to recondition Smiths motors.
SPAL ventilation blowers at Dino parts: Ferrari 206 GT: Body & Fittings: Ventilation & Heating: Ventilation & heating - List I have bought one with success for my early 246. Best regards Peter
SPAL fans are available new on EBay here in the U.K., the reference numbers are not the same but there are good drawings and specs. Sorry I don't know how to do a link, if you can't find them let me know and I will do a screenshot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Like this? - Only in Exeter so I can pop in and see it when passing. 001-A53-03S - SPAL Centrifugal Blower - 12v - 1 Speed Fan | eBay
That's them, do you want the number of mine ? I can look later this evening if it helps you . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That would be great...not sure if they are universal for sides but its the left hand one I wanted (N/S) Many thanks
Left hand is 001-A07-01S, the right hand one is 001-A07-01D, mine have a small round silver sticker on the with 11/84 on it which may indicate they were replaced in 1984 ? But they would appear to be the correct fitment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks guys Sorry for not replying, I've been away. Thanks for sending the link. I have not acquired new ones as yet but I will certainly look at these. Thanks again! Jim
Not sure about the 400 series but the 308 housings have 3 plastic mount bosses to attach it to the car that these new ones don't have.
The 400 fixings are actually inside the housing so you need to separate the two halves to fit...typically for these cars making things more difficult!
I found a similar (same?) fan in my 365 GT4 BB yesterday - and spent a long time reassembling the fragments of the blower case and gluing/taping as a temporary fix. I felt like some museum curator with an ancient pottery artifact. The mounting brackets were pop rivetted to the plastic (bakelite?) case - horrible! I'm not especially 'concours' minded and for the future will look for a metal fan housing. As far as I know that's all I need, plus perhaps a bit of cutting and modification in order to fit it. Does anyone know how close the Ashley Hinton Smiths blower cases (Austin healey, Aston Martin) are in dimensions to the SPAL 001-A07-01D case? Perhaps I'll go and ask - he's only 20 miles away!
