Hi, Dave.....I found it a few years ago. I don't remember where, do 3 stages, 25 lbs, 50 lbs, finally 65 lbs...use a "star" pattern. Gary
The owner's manual for the 400i 1982 (n° 250/82 page 55) mentions tightening the bolts to 10kg-m when the wheel is back on the ground after change. This is 72 lb-ft. The owner's manual for the 412 1988 (n° 495/88 page 57) mentions also 10kg-m and 72 lb-ft for final tightening. The owner's manuals for the 400 and the 400i 1979 don't mention a torque for these bolts at all.
I use the same on the 400i and the 308QV: First finger tight with a wiggle, then snugged up just with hand torque (I use a socket and an extension), then tighten opposing bolts to unph, then htt!, then finally rrrt!
Yep I have 4 of these..... Ferrari Borrani "Smontare" Convex 3 Ear Wheel Knock Off 52MM 1 Left & 1 Right | eBay .....so yes in that context...I do.
Ok, based on new info brought to light here, I will raise my wheel bolt torque to 72 lbs. Click, Click, Click, Click..... This forum never fails to amaze me ! Gary PS: is it legal to tighten metric bolts to "lbs" ?......lol
The owner's manuals for the 400 and the 400i 1979 don't mention a torque for these bolts at all. but they mention all the other useless info you never need thanks guys
After leaving 30 plus years working in dealerships, I have seen what a young kid with a brand new airgun can do to nice, new, chromy lugs many times...I always torque wrench my "classic" lug nuts/bolts. PS: the 400i and I will be at the Elliott Museum car show in Stuart, Fl on Sunday, April 2nd....pics to follow next week..then down to the BJ auction on Friday in WPB Fl. Gary
