    Hello,

Wanted to see if there were any economical or aftermarket alternatives of the following items: Cap, rotor, plug wires? If so part numbers and manufacturer please. Best Source?

    Regards!

On the wires you can make them from some universal cut to length spark plug wire kits from Summit or Jegs. Just get the same diameter and two V8 kits. That was what was installed on my car when I got it. Cap and rotor probably not so lucky check with usual vendors.

Except the originals are solid core and NAPA are good for a lawnmower. The cars are valuable enough now that even the most frugal owner should protect their investment by keeping the car correct rather than pinching pennies and take it up the hoop when they sell it.

You want a new cap and rotor, grab your ankles. Don't like it dont own a ferrari.

The three choices all appear to be dual coil. What if you have single coil as a 1984 400i?

I searched "Kingsborne ING 9930" and only found this FChat post! Please send a link.

Don't like it don't own a Ferrari.... lol.
I was unaware that paying full price for something graduates you into special class of Ferrari owner.... If I approached it that way I could be accused of having more money than sense. Worse case, down here in my part of the world I would be greeted with "Oh bless your heart.." very often.... ;-)

So you are saying the original spark plug wires have a copper conductor?

I have also used NAPA life time wires on cars for probably over 30 years and never had any problems.

I had a car that I ran spark plug wires that had solid copper conductors. They cause radio static on other cars when I was a block away.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! Manufactures produce at that price, otherwise, they would be REALLY EXPENSIVE!

It is my understanding that the original stock ignition from Europe require the solid core wires, and the MSD Boxes require the spiral core wires. A Ferrari mechanic insisted on replacing my Talor spiral core wires that were on my 1980 400i with MSD with the solid core wires, and they just screwed up my coil and my radio reception. I bought two Jegs universal eight sets ( I'm
betting that they are Taylors under private label). Thank you. Jq.

Stock wires are spiral core. About 500 ohms/foot.

I believe Taylor stopped making the spiral core in the small diameter a few years ago. Dave Helms bought the last 5000 feet they had.

They'll be the wrong lengths. Why not get the correct set? They make it.

No they have a fine wire inside vs carbon core. I can only assume Pep boys or NAPA doesn't make high end wires given this thread is focused on avoiding the correct part. I would want to protect my expensive cap by not running too much resistance and it only hurts when you cut the cheque. This thread reminds me of the 308 section when someone made an adapter for the single distributor to run a dodge 318 V8 cap lol
