I have come across an engine stamped F.101.F 010/46 *00001*
Was it from a car (if so which one?) or is it a replacement motor?
    Thanks

Interesting - your engine relates to the catalyst equipped Swiss version of the 412 engine, which produced 325 BHP versus 340 BHP for the non-catalyst equipped.

Whilst I cannot answer your question, the catalyst equipped engine variant was launched in 1987 and the cars had a unique VIN code which started ZFFDD25S (manual) or ZFFDD24S (auto). The earliest cars known had a serial number beginning 70XXX.

Whether yours is an engine used for testing/prototype purposes only (as it's number 1) or fitted to a production car I would also be interested to find out.

    Thanks David

Very interesting. The engine is now fitted in a rebody so I have no idea about the origins.
