The prior posting removed the Center Section of the Center Console, the Binnacle, the Hood Release Trim Panel, and the Glovebox. Part II continues the saga.

    V. Passenger Airbag

    1. Remove the four nuts that secure the airbag assembly to the bulkhead (a.k.a firewall) brackets.

    2. Disconnect the airbag from the harness. FYI, the airbag wiring in automobiles is identified in yellow.

    3. Remove airbag module.

    4. This is also a good time to disconnect the passenger side dash speaker from the harness.

    VI. Center Console

    1. Lift and remove the center section out of the center console, if not already done.

    2. Remove the two screws at the rear.

    3. Remove the two bolts at the front, just below each lower corner of the climate control unit opening.

    4. On the driver’s side, remove the two forward bolts facing the steering column.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1371034&stc=1&d=1313016339

    5. On the passenger side, remove the two forward bolts facing the glovebox.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1371035&stc=1&d=1313016339

    6. Lift the rear of the center console and rotate it from under the dashboard. Set aside.

    7. Now is also a good time to disconnect the interior air temperature sensor (driver’s side).

    VII. Dashboard

    1. Pull the weatherstripping from the forward vertical doorjamb on the driver’s side.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1371037&stc=1&d=1313016459

    2. From inside the dash, remove the nut holding the dashboard side panel to the dashboard. Set panel aside.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1371038&stc=1&d=1313016459

    3. Remove the two 10mm nuts holding the dashboard bracket to the cowl.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1371039&stc=1&d=1313016459

    4. Repeat 1-3 for the passenger side.

    5. On the passenger side, loosen the clamp between the flexible rubber air duct and the rigid plastic air duct. Pull the flexible duct off the plastic duct.

    6. Remove the dashboard retaining nut just below the duct.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1371040&stc=1&d=1313016459

    7. Remove the center dashboard retaining nut.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1371043&stc=1&d=1313016587

Now, on the driver’s side, the next procedure is performed so that the steering wheel does not need to be removed. It does require some wiggling, but it also gets the column lowered, so it’s easier to R&R the dashboard assembly by yourself.

    8. Identify the bracket that secures both sides of the dashboard on each side of the steering column to the bulkhead above the steering column itself.

    9. Remove the four capscrews that secure the bracket to the dash. There are two capscrews on the right side, and two capscrews on the left. On the left, the lower capscrew is positioned lower and harder to find than the upper capscrew.

    10. Above the bracket, loosen the clamp between the flexible rubber air duct and the rigid plastic air duct. Pull the flexible duct off the plastic duct.

    11. The dashboard is now mechanically free, but it’s held in place by friction on the sides and front. Wiggle it towards you, starting on the ends, until the entire unit slides forward about an inch.

    12. Now, remove the four nuts that secure the bracket to the bulkhead. Move the bracket forward and tilt the front downward until it clears the bulkhead studs. Then remove the bracket.

    13. Use a 19mm wrench to remove the large, lithium-greased nut on the right side of the steering column. This nut secures the steering column adjustment bolt. Once removed, lift up on the steering wheel to relieve pressure on the column adjustment bolt and pull the bolt out from the left side.

    14. Lower the column so that the steering wheel rests on the floor.

    15. Carefully pull the dashboard away from the bulkhead.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1371050&stc=1&d=1313016735

    16. Ensure that the harness from the sunload sensor has been disconnected.

    17. Ensure that the harness from the interior air temperature sensor has been disconnected.

    18. Remove the dashboard assembly from the vehicle.

The next post, Part III, will deal with disassembling the dashboard and re-bonding the leather.
