Hey Guys, I posted recently, indicating my desire to locate a well-optioned, low-mileage 550 in an unusual color with all books & records. Comments varied from "good luck" to "join the crowd" and a few rolled their eyes at "here's the latest bottom-fisher"!!! Well guess what.... the strategy worked and the FChat brotherhood delivered yet again!!!! Just bought a Ross Fiorano (my favorite color to boot) 2001, with factory shields, modular wheels and the quilted shelf and headliner that I really wanted. The car comes with all fobs and keys, all alarm and radio codes, all tools, covers, factory manuals and all service records from day one. Best part of all is that an extremely meticulous FChatter Soren (real name Bryce) was one of the previous owners and he diligently photo-documented much of the work he did to keep this car in tip-top shape. Dealer records and Taz's prior posts seem to indicate that the car is the 2nd to last Maranello made. The car checked every single one of my boxes, with the exception of the mileage being higher than my stated preference. However, the condition and documentation of the vehicle enabled me to easily accept the car with 20K miles on the odometer! Car arrives on Thursday. This time, I suspect the wait will be even harder than usual. Thanks to all for the PM's and public words of encouragement. Much appreciated!!! I was going to comment on your "unicorn search" thread but since I had said enough in the "current Value" thread I thought I'd wait until you were successful. Now, to confirm where the true market is at, I suggest that you paid between 65K and 75K. Am I on the money?
Rob- Very nice. Hopefully you will be very happy with her the more you drive her. As the owner of a 20K+ mile Maranello, I can attest to the fact they like to be driven.
Sadly for me, nowhere close (typed respectfully). Having said that, I am a buyer for any and all 550's in this condition that you or anybody else can steer my way at $65-75K. I'd be happy driving a different colored 550 every day of the week if I could acquire creampuffs for $65-75K a pop!!!
Rob, GREAT car! All of my favorite options. FYI, I have the second to last 550 built as 126806 which is a Giallo Modena car and the last 550 as 126807 as the ex-Pharrell Williams Bianco Avus on red car. What s/n is yours?
That is certainly the top end market car. Not the midrange for sure. Closer inspection of the details of the car makes that a VERY Top end car indeed. Enjoy in good health Wolfy
Sherpa, My car was your car's neighbor on the production line - I'm 126805. And on a semantic basis, don't you have the "next" to last car and I have the "second" to last if 126807 is last??? There, I just made your car even more desirable!!!! Enjoy it in good health and thank you for all the PM's over the past few weeks. Best regards. Rob
Rob, yours is later than my 2001 550, which is the 60th from the end of world production. I meant that on my 550 build LIST, I have the next to last car as 126807… not meaning that I own that car. So officially, you have the THIRD from the last car, which is pretty freaking awesome.
Yup, I just did a cursory look at 550 SNs when asked the question and 126807 was the latest I saw. What do you have as the last? SN trivia is kind of fun. I know all about the 1st and last 575M, but not about the 550, mainly because I have a 575M and not a 550.
Okay, semantics question for the brain trust: There were TWO 550's made AFTER Rob's car. So is Rob's car: a) "Second to last" as he expressed in this initial post or b) "Third from the end" or "Third to last" as I express it? There's no dispute as to where this car is in production. The only question is how is that properly expressed so that everyone has the same understanding.
20,000 miles on a MY 2001 is not high mileage. That's a pretty Maranello, Rob. Congratulations! Drive it in good health. Barry
