It has fresh belt service, etc. Could use some minor cosmetics yet. Drivers seat bolster and ash tray cover for sure. And the wheels could be a plus or minus. Probably a good buy at $65-70K considering the mileage...if you like the colors...

It's been on their web site, as well as the official Ferrari web site (without pictures) for weeks, if not months. It appears to be a market correct price, so something must be holding it back.

I was told that it was sold and the buyer did not perform...

Chris at Exoticar has new sets of 550 wheels for $1200, so wheels are not much of a concern for 550s.

Yeah, it's been "on the market" since about November. At one point the asking price was $69,900.

Do you guys think $70K for the car is too much or just right?

It's been on their site for several months (I browse every couple of days), they just have it listed in a bizarre spot and have never fixed it. When you search by make you have to choose "FERRARI" not the other "Ferrari" they have listed.

    Anyhow, here's the link:

IIRC, they listed it at that, pulled it, and a week or so later it reappeared where it was mentioned a fresh service (major?) was performed. The price then went up to where it is now.

    I have personal knowledge of
these folks, and I like them.

    If I was spending $79,000
(which I have) I would go
    for a 575 (which I did)....

Yeah, it was originally listed at $79,900, then dropped to $69,900 after a month or two, then briefly gone (buyer flaked apparently), now back to $79,900.

It looks like the steering wheel airbag cover might need to be replaced and the rear shelf cover also doesn't seem to fit properly.

yep, i think that could be said about almost every 550 that hasn't had repair work done. probably the dash leather is shrinking and some of the buttons are sticky too.

My point is that it's been sitting at an authorized Ferrari dealership for months. They couldn't fix this stuff?

When I spoke to Alan about the car, he was very forthcoming about the cosmetic niggles, but stated that the dealership had "decided to not correct them". I suspect they're caught in the situation where investing the money in corrections doesn't change the milage, and they just can't realize a return on their investment in cosmetic corrections. The time it has been on the market was explained as a buyer who decided to not complete the purchase, but I suspect the milage is the basic core issue.

i think there are too many lower mile 550's for sale in this price range for this one to sell anywhere close to what is being asked for it. does anyone know if it has its service history and where the work was done?

Pretty sure it had a dealership major. i would think this car could be bought in the $60s sooner or later. Looks to be reasonably well sorted. Always something to do on a car that is more than 15 years old...

As a 308GTB owner I haven't been watching the prices of 550s/575s, but a 3 pedal V12 for under $70K sure seems like a bargain to me, I'd get a leather rear shelf instead of that loose carpet and fix whatever else is needed, keep the rims and have a beautiful car for under $100K, not????
