After having followed a lot of interesting discussions and presentations around the Maranello 550/575 I would like to present my shortly acquired 550....

Since nearly one year I've been looking for a Maranello, preferable for a 550 3-pedals car but I havn't been fixed in that, a nice 575 with a F1 shifter was as well under consideration. After having looked at numerous cars in germany as well as in Italy (I spend 3 weekends at the Lago di Garda - not just because of the cars nearby but also for the scenery and the Tagliatelle al Tarufo...), I got aware how difficult it is to find the right car! Honestly, I was also limited regarding condition, milage and last but not least the choice of colour.

Another issue has been the constantly increasing prices.... When starting to look at these cars in 2014 the price level in central europe was 40-45.000 € for a nice, presentable car with some history, the better ones with low milage where around 55-60.000 € and top cars where 70-80.000 €.

Actually, Maranellos in our region starts at 65.000 €, lower milage examples are around 80-95.000 € and low milage ones are between 95.000 and 140.000 € (in this case low milage 550). If the market already accepts such prices - I don't know....

Coming back to my Maranello. Having mist some opportunities (mostly 575, one F1 in Milano another one in Belgium - Verde Zeltweg, 3-pedal car, now in our forum - honest congrats) I stumbled at one thursday in late december 2014 occationally over a freshly offered 550 in Florence, Italy. It has been on sales for just some hours, I called immediatly (only italian language, as usual), and reserved the car for me until saturday, 10.30 a.m.... So I woke up 3:30 a.m. and went down 800 km to Florence.

The car has been sold trough a dealer by it's first owner, 25.500 km, stamped service booklet and the corresponding invoices, accident free, all keys and always lived in the hills above Florence....

Having now found my Maranello, I hope, that we'll have endless hours of joy an exitment, some pictures of my new toy I've send attached.

Thanks for sharing and kind regards,

    Jürgen

Congrats! Welcome to the V-12 club. Your pictures did not come through. Would love to see photos of your new car and any adventures you go on. By the way, you have great taste in colour, not that I'm biased or anything :)

Always loved Blu Pozzi on the 550.

I had my sights on one last year with Blue Scuro interior but was diverted and settled on my 575M.

The colour reminds me of the Rob Walker liveried 250 SWB and I even went as far as trying to use a 3D software package to put a white stripe on the nose of the 550 to see how it might look!

.....having worked on her some hours during this friday, I have to tell you, that a wish came true.... The design, the pure appearance of the car is so fascinating, it drag's you eye from every different corner, just incedible....

Having always been a fan of the Daytona, I actually admire her as a real modern variantion of the dream car of my childhood!

    Kind regards,

    Jürgen

I love this color combination. One of the classiest one I have yet seen on a 550. Evocative of vintage Ferraris yet still modern. A fantastic choice. And few things sound as good in a single sentence together as : "V12 Ferrari und Autobahn". It's been more than 15 years since I have been on the Autobahn. But wring her out for me the next time you get the chance on the unrestricted zone. Enjoy!

I went to Germany for the last time in 2011 and had to settle for a diesel powered Ford Focus estate rental. I squeezed it from Berlin to München for all it was worth (190kph), which was barely enough to keep me on the middle lane. Sweet! Petrol head heaven!

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.
