I have no problem with that price tag....I predict all Ferraris made in the 90s will hit 6 digits within the next 5 years
Low mileage M 6 speed in good colors....I see nothing wrong with the price if the condition and documentation are satisfactory. And they're open to offers. I hope those Scuderia stickers will come off.....
If a well sorted 456 stick in a unique color ... hopefully the direction of things to come! Best AK Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, it is a six-speed and very pretty color combination. I doubt that, as an ebay offering, it is a true harbinger of the market (though I may be wrong). My guess is that it will be let go for a figure way south of that. First of all, it's only the asking price; they have a "make offer" option. Secondly, it needs $3K in leather work on the dash and sticky-no-more HVAC control replacements. (if a car has been "meticulously maintained," it's not the kind of thing an owner would let go). There are no shots of the headliner or rear parcel shelf, so you can't tell their condition. Third, it's missing the proper wheel center caps and the shields are cheap aftermarket stickers which is weird and not confidence-inducing. Also, what's with putting the rally plaque directly on the leather; cheesy IMO. I'm also a bit leery of a car that has had less than a thousand miles per year. How do hoses keep from getting brittle, etc? It's a real beauty and I apologize for being a curmudgeon, but I'd be a bit cautious. Why don't they at least post a free carfax?
Precisely. This car has not been meticulously maintained at all. I'd need a quite massive price reduction to 1) correct just the issues that can be seen and 2) take on the risk of a car that looks like it will be a deferred maintenance basket case.
+1 Also - it was very astute of them to have the wrong center caps on the wheels. 456 M cars have a silver painted wheel cap with a chrome horse. I love 456M gated cars (I have one), but this one needs some attention. Not so fast, bandwagon chasers!
I too would love to see these cars finally get recognized and do a price jump, but this one is a reach. Top money goes for top cars and this isn't a top money car- If they were smart they'd have attended to the few details mentioned before pasting on that price tag...
Ambitious pricing indeed, and good on Allan and Dave for pointing out some of the flaws. There seems to be movement in the market, however. In 2010-mid 2014 there were always around 80 456s (GT, GTA, MGT) on the European market...now there are 40, and very few of those look like worth checking out...snapshot or development? I don't know, but the same happened with the Maranellos, but starting 12 months earlier.
13k miles oil usage will already be starting to show. Mine has 16K miles and uses .5 liter of spirited driving.. Dave456 has double the mileage of mine on an 96 car and doesn't use oil between changes.
That may be, but that is the first instance I recall seeing where a 456M had them. And, as I also mentioned, shield stickers are a very strange addition.
A bunch of naysayers on these forums. 89k for this car, if accident free and mechanically sound, will be remembered as a good deal one day. If regular 911's can go up in value, what more if it is a limited numbered Ferrari with a six speed and a beautiful shape. Sticky buttons and leather can be repaired. All Ferraris experience these issues. It doesn't change its future collectibility. Although, each model has its own timeline on values.
True with a house and true with a collectible car. I'm not a naysayer on the car; I'm a naysayer on the price right now. I sold my 1967 330 GTC in 1976 for $10,000. That was a fair price then. I wasn't taken for a ride. 40+ years later, in wrecked condition, it went for something like $400,000. That's the way the market functions.
