Having had today the possibility to take a ride in my 550 in blazing sunshine, temperatures moderate, just used B/C roads nearby. The car behaved faultless, had it driven last time 6-7 weeks ago due to a lack of time.

The reactions on the car are very positiv, at every stop people came by to get more informations like top-speed, power output and sometimes fuel consumption....

The design of the Maranellos seems to age very well, people admiring the car a lot. Hope, you enjoy the pics.....

    Saluti,

Thanks Vitor and 360modena2003 for your kind comments. The only problem is that I don't use it in the way it has been built for... Long journey's preferable to Italy.... Nice scenery, pitoresque villages at the lake or sea side....

Instead 30-50 km trips every second month...., but I love the car and enjoy all these short trips!

    Saluti,

    Jürgen

What a lovely car, I'm a mid engine owner myself but really fell in love with the 550 after I watched the film family man with Nicolas Cage - that dark grey / silver car with the blood red interior - amazing!

    Enjoy your car.

Love to write about my impressions on the car. Everytime I enjoy the Maranello, I discover something new about it, which I like to share with you.

Fortunatly, I was lucky enough to jump on the 550 at a time, when these car's were very affordable. The first time, I looked at the car, already had the feeling, that this would become my personal Maranello, the colour combination was just perfect.... (for me, at least...), combined with service history, one prev. owner, low milage, ecc......

Right timing, right decision - fortunate coincidence

Thank you, Simon, JohnnyRay, Hardistyfezza and especially Nuno for you kind comments, really appreciate them!

Mitchell, my Corvette is a 63 Sting Ray Convertible, the 846th produced, sebring silver, red interior, black hood. Matching numbers example, 327/250 hp, 4 speed gearbox. Originally delivered to Texas..., now own the car for 23 years!

The Jaguar has been an XKR Convertible, 1998 model, one owner, brg with dark green hood and charocoal interior, stunning car with complete history. Made way for a Maserati Indy and finally the 550 Maranello.

Speedmaster NL, the wheels were originally argento nürburgring 101C. Had mine redone as well, showed some scratches, now they are like they left the factory.

Darius, sure, your car is at least as good, as mine... You are sure, that you'll probably might go for a manual gated 575 ? Wouldn't be an alternativ for me....

It's a tough one..though it's not either or! Maybe this time next year I will be in a position to compare the driving experiences..
I just drove through your part of the world by the way, at suitably high velocity. Sadly not in any of my Ferraris. Family is with me. AMG-S. Tomorrow, the Stelvio..probably at 5 km/h, 'dad I feel sick!'..enjoy your 550 in this great European weather.

Thread title is also a wonderful song by Matt Monro. It was the theme song to the movie, "The Italian Job", the original one. Written and arranged by Quincy Jones. Sung partially in Italian, it's great to play in your Ferrari as you cruise! Check it out! :)

Greg, I had exactly this song in mind, when placing the title. It was used during the starting szene, when a guy drove a red Lamborghini Miura on a scenic pass in the alps. Shorty afterwards he crashed the into a bulldozer....

Funny movie, but so many fabulous cars crashed (E-types, Aston DB 4 Convertible, Minis and numerous Alfas....).

    Saluti,

    Jürgen
