hahaha my reply would be Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, beer in hand thoroughly worn out and screaming HOLY ****" what a ride!............ Look familiar
That's very cool Bill, I only wish I had more opportunity to drive mine. I pick it up tomorrow after a very comprehensive major. Ben at Salerno Motorsports did it and has been driving it for a few days to check everything. He says it runs and drives very well.
Hi Dave, I'm always amazed at how perfectly this car runs, I'm very lucky that I have great technicians looking after it... I have it checked every month when I get to Vegas they go through everything... Anything it needs it gets but to be honest it doesn't seem to need much because I drive it all the time And like I always say they love to be driven ! Cheers
Latest issue of Forza just arrived yesterday, and the cover story is about a 550 Maranello that has had 12K of track miles put on it. It's a great story, and about all the owner has done is put a BBK on the front, dropped the rear a bit for better squat, adjusted camber to a race spec, and called it good, IIRC. He's actually an instructor, and he uses it to show students the proper racing line, how to handle weight transfer, and demonstrate the effects of body roll, etc. So the Maranello's relatively soft ride works fine for him, as he's not out to win races, but to teach students how to drive better.
Bill, I don't think it's available online, but here's a shot of the cover from Forza's FB page: https://www.facebook.com/ForzaMagazine/photos/a.466799776786070.1073741825.466302716835776/1032029123596463/?type=3&theater BTW, congrats on your milestone - that was rude of me not to offer my congratulations before Here's to another 75K!
Hi Bill, That's a great milestone, indeed. I have 96.000 on my 456GT, or rather the car has, I have only done ca. 8.000 of that. But it is km's, so only 60.000 miles so far, but I hope I will get there! Cheers, Pekka T. Fin.
Bill I wish I could remember how many miles were on yours when I sat in it in Vegas a few years ago. Seems like just yesterday and I think you had just 20 or 30k on it then. Thanks for the advice to buy a 550. I love mine and only wish I could drive it more. Drake
He's an old client of mine. He is a very smooth driver and understands very well the cars limitations so doesn't over drive it. Even with big brakes they can easily be overdriven. Prodrive found that out.
I only did 517 miles in the last year. I really want to put more miles on it (at 28517) but I rarely am alone or just plus one (wife and 2 kids). I will make more of an effort in 2017.
That's good. BTW as I have kids as well (ok, well oldest daughter has already moved out) that's partly why I got the 456 GT. the rear seat actually fits two. Not full size men, but a 13 year old boy and an 18 year old girl. Cheers, Pekka t. Fin.
My girls at 10 and 6. We picked up a 2003 XKR convertible last summer as a fun family car. The girls fit in the back (probably for 2 more years). Ive put more miles on that as I've had a lot of sorting to do on it.
