Trip odometer broken

Mine was broken when I got my car. It had 10k miles at the time. I will fix it if/when my dash has to come out.

 

Mine wasn't working either when I got my 550. There's a trick to getting it going again, but you still won't be able to reset it to 000.0

While you're driving, tap sharply on the reset knob until it starts working. It worked for me. Hopefully it will work for both of you too.

Just went out and checked mine. One push and I get 000.0.......hehe

It's only about a half hour job to take the binnacle out, It's really pretty easy.

Well, we're in the 50% whose trip odometers don't work. I never use them anyway, but I got mine going coincident with the numbers of miles I put on the car since I got it. It's an easy way to see precisely how many miles I've driven the car.

Maybe we have the "optional" trip odometer. I have to check my build sheet.

 

I am happy that mine also does not work because if it did, I would have started to check the MPG and then (probably) be a little bit depressed. All I know now is that it is thirsty as hell.. 😉

The Trip Odometer doesn't work on my 550 either. It was one of the things on my list to fix if I ever had to pull the speedometer. Now that I know it is fairly common issue, maybe I won't bother.

 

My odometer doesn't reset either on my 1998 550.

Maybe someone can design an improved mechanism so that once it is fixed, it stays fixed.

My 575's works. I suspect they are completely different.

 

Right. The 550 odometer is the analog slot machine type.

 

Mine worked on now sold 550 and still works on my current 550
