Do you know the manufacturing month for this one? My '03 has a later S/N than this one but that is no particular guarantee. The assembly plate says 132381 was manufactured in May of '03. I'm curious when this virtually new car was manufactured.
Thanks, Volkmar. There is very little information and only one picture on the Bonham's listing. Surely hope they do a more extensive job of marketing this car that what they have put forth so far. As an '03 456M GT owner, I am surely going to cheer for it to go out pretty high....
Absolutely!! And the number of things that likely need doing as deferred maintenance or simple dry rot over 13-14 yrs of no exercise, lubrication, etc....It may have virtually zero miles, but time moves on and decay happens in any case. Its a car when all is said and done...drive it!!
One very small detail that raises a question, the yellow wheel centres Ms where silver not yellow as per the GT. For what has been a buy and park car seems odd to to do that.
I actually like them they add a nce detail. I bought some for my car as I recon the silver looks cheap... In addition I just had a look at my spread sheet which is not definitive but there are at lease 17 more cars built after this one.
Graeme, The silver ones cost about 1.7x the yellow!! I've just been shopping for a set of wheel caps for some replacement wheels so I can get my OEMs refinished and the silver ones are seriously more expensive than the regular ones. (~$400/set vs $240/set) Came original on the mighty 456M don't ya know! hahahaha BTW, I'd love to see your spread sheet on production order. My S/N is 132381 with the manufacturing date on the VIN plate as May 2003. Can't be all that many after mine....but perhaps you know.
My simple sheet just keeps the last 6 numbers and what the colour and what I call the build code ie 44 or 50 and country code From what I have collected the data is by no means definitive and I only suspect acuracy to be about 70-80% accurate. Here is a snip of the last part of the M section Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks, Graeme. Interesting, and a bit hard to tell the build order knowing that VINs aren't particularly sequential. There is a cluster of '03s right around my VIN number and then higher numbers from years earlier. What an interesting system....must be Italian!!
The list is from a number of sources and I work off the last 6 digits of the VIN as in theory it should be sequential..The Build dates are only as I have found them and I question there accuracy as is obvious from that snip.
Assembly number, assigned as each Ferrari reaches the assembly line regardless of serial number, determines which is newest. US data plates have accurate build dates, most other nations go by first registration date, which is unrelated to when she was built.
Shame that the Assembly number is not noted other then on the car to get an accurate build date and actual numbers made
Thanks as always, Terri. Are assembly numbers sequential across a model or are they sequential across the whole factory? There can be great rationale for either but then, its Italy, rationale is unnecessary!! For your records, Graeme, assembly number on my car is 50100.
Eric thank you, my car is 31477 (early 2000) and from what i have complied there are 149 cars between the two, but there will be lots missing
Eric- Serial numbers are part of the ordering process, while assembly numbers are assigned when she reaches the assembly line, regardless of model. So 360s are often intermixed with our V12s (F355s for earlier models, F430s for very late models).
i like the dark carpets, like i have in mine, a 1999 blu TdF/beige car. Looks much better than the beige carpets.
Good looking car and hopefully in great running condition in spite of the obviously long time spent in storage. 500kms and now look at her with rain on the bonnet!! Shameful...lol. Hope she finds a new, well-heeled lover.
