My Ferrari-Lambo expert wants to use Mobil One 0w-40 in my 456M. I'm not partial to any one brand but am curious as to what others use in their V-12's

Synthetic 20-40 for the 456. 0 or 5 first number -oil pressure light shows at idle. Car uses no oil,no smoke.

No, that is not a very light oil and matches the Ferrari recommendations for the 575M, at least, of 0W-40 or 5W-40 synthetic oil, with 10W-60 as an alternative for racing or very hot climates.

PB- That Euro Formula Mobil 1 will work fine in your 456M, as will just about any of the top end synthetics in 0W-40 or 5W-40. Many of the older V12s do not have recommendations for 0W-40 because it was not available when the manuals were written. If you look at the US MY 2000 456M OM, it recommends only 5W-40, but the MY 2003 OM recommends either 5W-40 or 0W-40 and nothing changed in the engine.

You asked what we used, and I use Valvoline full synthetic 5W-40.

It was the zero part of it that caught my attention as never seen it used in anything,

0W-40 Mobil 1 is fine for most uses in North America (or northern climates). Some may prefer that the lower number be 5W...and that is a reasonable choice as well. I personally buy Mobil 1 0W-40 in large quantities, and use it in the Ferrari, the (V12) Astons, snowmobiles and UTVs. No issues...

i dont understand why people use anything but 0w 40. At startup you want the zero and when warm you want the 40. I use it for everything

I live in the desert and do not need the 0W. 5W works fine.
