    What is the best way?
Remove the front torsionbar so you can get to the m20 nut on the sender or remove the neck to which the sender is attached which is only attached with 2 screws?

I'm working on that right now. I had to remove the sway bar and a cooling pipe to get enough room to get a wrench on it - 24 mm. You can't remove one of the screws as it's under the sender.

I would suspect if you have clearance issues, you may have motor mount problems. My car has 575 mounts and there was plenty of clearance to swap the sender out in like 5 minutes as billybob mentioned.

You are right. If you have failed motormounts it is not a 5 minute job.
    Upgrading to 575.
