I own a 2000 Ferrari 550, VIN:ZFFZS49A5Y0118482, build date: Dec. 1990, assembly# 35830, that was sold to Bernard Shaw around 2/24/2000. *The car has the following options: full leather interior, leather covered roll bar, carbon fiber trim, Daytona seats, modular wheels. *the car has also been lowered one inch and has aluminum calipers and larger front brakes. *

I would interested in knowing more about this Ferrari and if other cars were modified the same way. *The workmanship is beautiful, and I wonder if any other cars had these modifications.

It is a very interesting car and I would like to more about it.

I am thinking of selling it and this information would be helpful

Most of that sounds like factory options - lowering could have been done by anyone and I think upgraded brakes is a relatively straightforward change too - I'm sure its lovely but I'm not sure how special it is - Terry / Taz in 550/575 section might be able to comment further

    Interesting 550 you have.

This ad on the Internet says it has F40 brakes on the front.
Sell used 2000 FERRARI 550 MARANELLO, UNIQUE F40 FRONT BRAKES, 34,000 MILES AND SERVICED!! in Greenwich, Connecticut, United States

Are the modular wheels 19 inch diameter or 18? The tire size will say.
They are not the OEM modular wheels that were an option on the 550.

The carbon fiber interior looks factory installed.
The shift plate correctly has the shift pattern where the Cavallino would be for a standard interior.

Not sure what the black knob is in the center console's CF tray area.
Is that a built-in radar detector knob?

Really like the Lusso stitching on the headliner and rear shelf.
    It is a good looking silver/black 550.

That add is from Sept 2013 and it is my car. I agree all the options on the car are available from the factory or dealer installed. It's the roll bar. I would like to find out who did the installation and how many other 550 were fitted roll bars.
I am not a dealer nor an investor. I buy cars the way my father did: because I like them. I am too old to drive a car with this kind of performance. If the roll bar adds some interest or value, good. If not, so be it.

I'm thinking the padded roll bar was a factory option.

Here is an article about it as an option.
    deadspin-quote-carrot-aligned-w-bgr-2<\/title><path d="M10,3.5l3-3,3,3Z" style="fill:%23fff;stroke:%23fff"/><path d="M0,3.5H10l3-3,3,3H26" style="fill:none;stroke:%231b3a4d"/><\/svg>')}.f_branding_on.blog-group-deadspin .editor-inner.post-content .pu

The article thought it wasn't a much needed option, but it is pretty cool if it came from the factory that way.

Thanks for that information. The way it's installed would be very difficult to do aftermarket. It looks like it's just part of the full leather interior. Again, thanks to everyone for the information.

And they are a beautiful hard-to-find set of 18" modular wheels.

Only thing is, if the OP's car has F40 brakes on it, probably need to check that those bigger brakes will fit inside the 18' wheels.

My 550 has 18" modular wheels.
About the roll bar, I could tell a potential buyer the roll bar is a factory option but very few 550's were ordered with the roll bar. That's close to being true.

Apologies for the question, but why would someone put F40 calipers on a 550?

    Cheers!

Do a serious track day in a 550 and you'll find the stock front brakes will fade fairly quickly under the weight of the old girl....even with the Pagid orange pads and high temp fluid.

What is your car's serial number, build date and assembly number? Mine are 118482, 12/1999, 35830. I wonder if the factory built a series of cars with roll bars rather one at a time.

The roll bars and 4 point belts were not available in the US on the 575, but I am not sure about the 550.
