Hi guys, I damaged the front bumper by hitting a cat. At first I thought there was no damage because there really wasn't any loud noise. When I pulled over and further examined the radiator mesh was bent in which seperated a piece of the bumper and also cracked it. Im not too sure what to do here, this week I was going to go to the dealer to ask for an opinion. The car is ferrari approved with warranty so I assume a repair would mean a new bumper in order to keep the warrany valid?. Should I just leave it until I intend to sell the car and then replace the bumper? It isn't really visible. The front of the bumper is fine, it is just inside underneath the wing. Car has 3800 miles on it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Damn cat. They like to run in front of cars at last minute for a thrill. Only good thing about a cat is it gives a Dog something to chase.
Yes it all occurred in almost under a second, 90mph. I saw the cat in the rearview tossed to the side.
While many of us angst about minor body damage and resprays, this is pretty minor. Removing the front bumper is pretty easy, and a good body shop can repair and repaint this relatively easily. For the paint, you'll want to have a GOOD shop do it so the color matching is perfect. The wire mesh is actually pretty soft, you can re-bend it and repaint it very easily. I would check the under tray if you have not already just to make sure no cracks; again, easy fix. Unsure where you are located, but if there is a Ferrari Challenge team around you, they fix these all the time, though most wrap the cars vs. repaint. Given the shift to the new 458 Evo front nose piece, they might also have a few OEM bumpers around for sale (cheap). Me? I'm anal. I'd fix it. For you, all depends on how much it bothers you whether you fix it now or fix it later.
Uh, I don't see any damage. Money down the drain unless you're super anal about it. Won't effect resale. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Just leave it like that, in first week you will keep looking and thinking of it, second week you will just look at it without thinking anymore. After a month, you can't even remember where exactly is the damage. Looks like the cat has over dosage of calcium intake.
+1. Little scrapes and imperfections mean you are using the car as intended, driving the snot out of it rather than collecting dust in the garage.
Yes, I have noticed the mesh can easily be bent back. Ive decided to just leave it because knowing my luck as soon as I repaired this it would just happen again. I've done 1900 miles in the first 30 days of ownership, so I plan on using this car quite a bit while the weather allows. Thanks for the idea on the challenge teams.
