488 vs tuned TTS to Monterey

    Well guys, I just did a 400 mile run to Monterey with a group of car buddies. Same run as last year when my tuned TTS crushed every car in the group, including a GT3 RS and 458. Guess what, there a new dog in town. The 488 does in fact crush my tuned TTS with race exhaust. Nothing could come close to staying with me through a 100 miles of canyon either. The 488 is just too well balance and incredible fast. The other interesting thing is in 98% temps, running at 7000 rpm for 30 minutes straight, there was no heat soak. It felt just as crisp as when we started.

    To put it in perspective, my TTS had beaten a pretty impressive list of cars in the half mile airfield events that I attend. Here's a short list. Corvette Zo6, Lamborghini Huracan, tuned GTR, Maclaren 650s, 700hp Merc E, tunes Viper GT, highly tuned 997 TTS, and several others. I've actually never lost a eace in my TTS. So yeah, even I'm surprised at how much faster the 488 is. I mean crazy fast at any RPM in any gear.

    Ok, so where's the video. We'll we did take one. I can't upload it until I get home to my PC, but you will diffinately get to see it. My guess is in a half mile, it would have been at least 10 car lengths.

    Pretty freaking impressive!!! Can't wait until it really broken in. My 458 got fasted and faster as I put the miles on. It didn't really open up until about 3000 miles.

    And by the way, the car sound fu*king fantastic!!!

    And your point is? There are tuned GTR's that will trap 220mph in the half mile and are running 2500hp. That's why you always need to know the source of authenticity when it come to modded cars. Trust me, a stock GTR is not even a race against the 488.

    I couldn't be happier with mine as well - such an amazing machine!

    Can't wait to see the videos.. after my test drives, i did feel the 488 pulled much harder than an f12

    Curious, how was your tts so much quicker than another tuned tts?

    If you would take the time to actually read his post you'll see he beat a 997 TTS in his 991 TTS. The 997 is a last generation car. Kind of like the poorly performing, mediocre sounding last gen 458 is compared to the 488.:)

    Arnie. That's awesome. Can't say I'm surprised as my TTS feels utterly pedestrian compared to my 488 and when I took it to the track nothing could keep up including several Speciales and f12s

    Thanks man. When it comes to Porsche Turbos and modding them, it has to do with the platform, i.e., 996, 997, or 991. And then the amount of physical mods and the aggressiveness of the tune. My TTS is a 991 and has the GIAC Stage 2+ tune and GMG 200 cel cat race exhaust, which gives it approximately an extra 75hp. I've got buddies running over 800hp in there TTS, which will just destroy a 488. At the end of the day I had nothing to prove. There was just some curiousity about how a tuned TTS would do in a race against a new 488. I've answered that question.

    I think crushing is your driving vs other suck at driving cars like gt3 rs. The video of gtr vs 388, the Ferrari got the hit and took gtr 13 s to pass. I would guess 488 is already doing 150 mph and they have covered over 1/4 mi of distance. Stock vs stock it wouldn't even be close

    On the low end the 488 is a bloody freight train:D Top end is more similar to the F12. But that makes sense when comparing weight and upper end power.

    Congrats man! I tried to tell everyone how fast the 488 is but few people believed or listened . I raced my old tuned Mclaren 12c and we were dead even or I was slightly faster at least till 140mph. Also raced a full bolt on E85 GTR from a roll and we were even. The 488 is really really fast and it's stock!

    488 is fast but in curves where both are properly driven it won't leave a gt3 RS for dust. If you have long straightaways you'll put some good distance between them but that's about it. I guess my point is that if both cars are driven properly there is no way to see that difference in handling on the street being even remotely safe. And at that I'll guess the gt3 RS has equal cornering speeds to the 488.

    hate to sound like a putz, but I'd think twice about posting a video in the public domain that shows you doing 178, and/or any semblance of "street racing".....(otherwise known to the CHP as "evidence", to the courts as "self incrimination" and to Jalopnik as "feature content")

    (BTW, no judgment, I'm sure you were being "safe")

    No doubt the 488 is a fast car and worthy successor to the 458. But as far as pure trap speed and straight-line acceleration the 650s/12C and 570S are equal to the task and in most cases spanked all the cars you mentioned in your list of victories. The 675LT is on another planet, best supercar under $1M.

    I'd say you are the better driver above anything else.

    I know this is silly, but for the pure entertainment value...
