In addition to the Mega Mac test in the upcoming EVO issue, the 488 was also tested. From GCF: Richard Meaden from EVO UK has done a 1:12.8 around Anglesey Coastal, matching the lighter, slightly more powerful McLaren 675LT's time. I can't wait to hear the Mac forum light up about this with conspiracy theories. However, one must not forget the 675LT was on trofeos. If it was probably on tire like the PSC2's, it would probably be near the speciale.

Can a mod erase "preview" from the title? Thanks.

Lap times aren't everything and there are all sort of variables that we don't know about. But that is seriously impressive.

    Well done Ferrari!

I have watched the 675LT Evo track video and they comment that it has noticeably more lag than the 488, it is also a much more compromised car on a stickier tyre (anyone know what the 488 used?). Some might not like turbo charged engines, but you have to hand it to Ferrari and what they have achieved.

Im going to assume the usual PSC2. They claim theres a video for the lap, but i can't find it.

This is a very interesting laptime. Very fast. It must have used the MPSC2 because I can't believe a heavier, softer, less powerful car could match the 675 on significantly less grippy tyres.

Makes me wonder if MPSC2 will be offered as an option? I have a spider for next year which I just assumed would be supplied on MPSS?

The extra weight of the 488 should count against it but the lower gearing and maybe better electronics, plus more instant thrust is most likely helping the 488 around the very tight Anglesey circuit. There are apparently two other tracks where these cars have comparative laptimes - Sachsenring, which was a narrow 0.2s victory for 675 and the Vairano handling circuit which was a more comfortable win for the 488 (source Zeperfs). I suspect these were done on different days, as the EVO times, so the usual caveats apply.

Most members claim the psc2 are standard. Another you might want to think about is why the SV is so close to the 675lt on most tracks, despite it being 800lbs heavier and on corsas vs the 675lt on trofeos? If the SV can be so close despite its apparent disadvantages, then couldn't a car that is about 400lbs lighter, better tires, probably better electronics, and a better tranny, match the 675lt?

Geez, it is tough over at Mclife! Ok, be honest Fchat: who here thinks the 488 could not match a 675lt without being a ringer? Despite the SV being within a second of the LT on most tracks.

Good news ;) so what's the lap time for 675LT? How close are they?
