Not many. Last one I came across or heard of aside from yours was about a year ago. The owner immediately updated it when he took delivery :(

    Epic thread, Carlo!

Mine's a 2011 which I bought as a Ferrari Approved car from a german official Ferrari dealer last year.

I'm the second owner and I believe the former owner was a proper enthusiast. Car has always been serviced at the official Ferrari dealer (I have the receipts and stamps), has undergone all recalls issued and the ECU is original, meaning I'm fully stock and with vicious and addictive pops, gurgles and crackles that make me fall in love with my 458 everytime I go for a spin!

I'm sure the former owner gave explicit instructions to the dealer not to update the ECU, otherwise the car would have been updated by now. I was really lucky, at the time I bought the car I was unaware of the glorious exhaust notes of 2010-2011 cars that would be forever lost with a software update, only found out after buying the car.

Carlo, maybe it would be nice to take this thread and inform all 458 owners that still have a proper exhaust setting, how to keep it that way.

I'm just another schmuck who loves the 458 and I'm not mechanically/tech inclined, nor do I have your experience and expertise regarding the 458, so I'd like to ask you. I know you posted lots of invaluable tips over time, scattered around several threads but if we could concentrate everything here, like a mini-exhaust crackles owners manual, it would be great!

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

There was a guy on here the other week that said he could flash the ecu back to the pre update config..

    Surprised nobody has done this...

I just bought a one owner 1400 mile 2011 458 Italia. Sounds pretty damn close to my 430 so I have to assume that my ECU wasn't flashed. Would it say on service records? I will notice more once I get my remote valve controller installed.

Ha knew you would love the thread Nuno!

Instructions on how to keep the ecu original on 2010 and 2011 MY Italias:

Repeat at least 458 times to your service manager and tech: 'NO SOFTWARE UPDATES
PLEASE' whenever you bring the car in, and before you leave write the same 4 words
with a Rosso Corsa sharpie pen on a blank sheet of paper, scotch it over the glove box
and have the service manager and tech read the sentence a minimum of 458 times.
If eye rolling and nausea do not exhibit themselves, repeat the procedure :D

Interesting, do you perhaps have a link to the post if it was mentioned on this
    forum?

Fwiw if memory serves me well, I seem to recall that Rossi46 once mentioned he was able to revert back to the original software, perhaps he could chime in..

If you have loud and continuous strings of crackles and pops upon deceleration in 1st, 2nd and
3rd gear you have the original ecu, trust me you'll know once your valve controller is installed :)

Which brings me to an important point: any 2010 or 2011 Italia owners that still have the
original ecu should have an exhaust valve controller installed to hear the crackles and pops,
they will not be apparent if the exhaust valves open and close in factory mode as to hear
them fully the valves must always be open.

Lastly, no post 2011 models have continuous and pronounced strings of crackles
since they all come from the factory with updated ecus, therefore, no Spiders or
Speciales or SA's have the pops.

Omg you're going to flip out when you hear them with the valves
    constantly open :D

Next step after the valve controller install: high flow race cats for the
    'machine gun style' exhaust :D

I'm sure we'll eventually have someone offering an ECU flash back to a 2010/11 out in the wild :) I just wonder if it'll be something Ferrari would approve of as far as 'tweaking the car' goes...

Hopefully a few years from now when I think I'd be able to go to a 458 :)

Everyone is pretty shocked when they hear my car and I tell them it's stock. My exhaust is pinned open as well.

I have one...late 2010 Italia in giallo modena. Enjoy the sound every time I down shift in low gear in track mode...although it does scare small children in the neighborhood!

Thanks Michael, but would be weary about a 'single-poster' abilities though...

That being said, I think Rossi46 was able to revert and the LA based tuner Gintani
does have an ecu flash for the 458 which alters the fuel map of the ecu.

In my opinion, however the pops the Gintani tune gives are excessive and in the long
run might ruin exhaust components. Fwiw I for one would never let Gintani lay a finger on my
car as their reliability has been put in question several times.

Fyi this thread of mine talks about the Gintani crackle tune for the 458, it however appears
that the video of the Gintani tuned 458 has disappeared from the thread, hmm..
