Well, It has been one exciting journey and Im excited to say that I am almost finished with modifications on my 488 Spider. This started out as a Canna Di Fucile 488 Spider that finally arrived a little over a month ago. I have been dreaming of a one off 488 Spider build for over a year now. Collecting and saving images of examples of what I wanted mine to look like. Hours and Hours of late night reading and watching videos. The time had finally come, so once it arrived, it went straight into the shop for a little make over.....

I did a lot of research on who to have perform all the work. After months of searching and reading reviews, I decided to go with Boden Autohaus in Costa Mesa CA. (https://www.instagram.com/boden_autohaus/?hl=en)

This is company that does ZERO marketing but yet is booked solid for months in advance. Their business comes 100% from word of mouth referral. I spent a good weak going back and forth to their place to see other work they where doing. Each time I visited, I would see something totally bad azz and one of a kind. The entire team was always friendly and shared a wealth of information. They specialize in one off custom builds and exhaust work. Nothing but high end cars there with anything from straight pipe Koenigsegg's to Twin Turbo Huracan's. The work these guys do is seriously in a league all in its own. Going with them was an easy choice and I could not be happier with what they put together.

We started this Build with a full Satin Clear bra by SunTek. I went with the new Stealth film. It turned the stock Canna Di Fucile color into a nice Satin finish that I was looking for and provides te ultimate in protection. If I get tired of the Satin look, I can always peel it right off and go back to stock color. We used the full clear fim on all the gloss carbon as it accents the satin very well. Before the carbon parts just blended into the rest of the body. Now the Carbon pops out a bit more making it a little nicer and easier to see. Chris was the main man installing my Wrap, while Roy Sera was the master at dis assembling the car in order to get the wrap tucked away tight and right in order to avoid any ugly seams. I will mention these guys are not the cheapest in town, but their work and attention to detail is top notch. One thing was for certain, I did not want the pre cut films as they leave seems everywhere. These guys hand laid and cut the wrap for entire car. It took a little over 4 solid days from start to finish. Afterward they pointed out a couple spots that they wanted to redo because it was not up to their standards. Simply outstanding job by Chris and Roy on the Satin Clear wrap.

Here is time lapse of the Satin Clear Wrap...

Once the Wrap was finished, I had them paint match the side markers, which where then wrapped in the satin clear to match the body. The round side markers where then smoked out. This really helped to give the entire car a clean stealthy look without any Amber markers messing up the flow of the colors.

Now Chris and Roy went to work once again. Side windows where tinted with a NANO CERAMIC Med tint and the front windshield had a clear NANO CERAMIC Film installed which cut down interior temps dramatically. This also cuts out the UV rays from damaging interior and dash board.

Now it was time for the wheels. I have probably looked at over a 1000 pictures of wheels on Ferrari's. I had narrowed the choice down o HRE and Vorsteiner. We ended up going with Vorsteiner to knock out a set of custom wheels for this build. I really wanted a certain Matte Bronze that wasn't offered as their standard finishes. I also wanted the Ferrari center cap and not the standard Vorsteiner cap. Nick Barnes was our contact at Vorsteiner and he hooked it all up with a custom set of VFN-503 Wheels. 20" Front and 21" Rears, They machined the wheels to our specs for proper spacing and got the machining done for our Ferrari center caps. Wheels where then sent out to have the Triple Satin Bronze powder coating done. I was so stoked with how the wheels came out. We finished them off by mounting up some beefy 355/25/21 Pirelli tires to get the power to the ground.

Once the wheels arrived, Patrick Harbinson and Roy got the car up on the lift and began going to town on the suspension. The springs where removed and replaced with Novitec Springs. Ride height was set to give a little gap without completely slamming the car to the ground. I felt this gave it a very nice look without turning it into a low rider. Without the springs lowering it down, the damn thing looked like a monster truck LOL.

The wheels where installed with a nice finishing touch. Josh Esfahani (The Owner of Boden) got me a one off set of Titanium Lugnuts with my face Laser Etched into them... .ROFLMAO. This was by far the funniest thing I have ever seen and thought it really added a unique touch hehehehe

Now it was time to add a few extra ponies to this bad boy. Eric Cheney is the master mind behind the design and fabrication of the one off exhaust systems. With 15+ years in the industry, the Fabrication he works up is literally like a sculpture of art. Check out their instagram and you will see what I am talking about. The Rear end then came apart to have a Stage 1 custom Cat back H Pipe exhaust installed followed up with a Stage one conservative tune. Tune and cat back added 91 Wheel HP. There was a very noticeable difference in power, the sound was better than stock, and it got rid of the annoying exhaust valves. One thing is for sure, you better be pointing straight when you lay the throttle down,,,,,,

After they completed the stage one they gave the car back and I went out and enjoyed it for the weekend. Even though it sounded better than Stock and had more power, I was missing the Higher pitch sound of the Ferrari's like experienced in my Scud. I went back in to Boden and expressed my thoughts and told them I was not in love with the exhaust. "Not a problem, we know exactly what you want" they said. They told me they could do a one off X Pipe config with Custom Down pipes which would for certain get the sound a little higher pitched along with one hell of a turbo sound. They 3D Scanned the engine bay and went to work building me a one off X Pipe set up with custom Down Pipes. That set up with Stage 2 tune should get the car closer to 900 HP. I rode in a car they had just completed with down pipes and H Exhaust and it was an absolute rocket. Completely ridiculous, there is absolutely no need for so much power, Its exactly what I was looking for :)

They are hard at work on the completing the new X Pipe set up this weekthen start on fresh down pipes next week. I should be back with an update around the 16th of this month. They just sent me some pics of x pipe and video of a test fit and sound sample. Ohhhhhhhh Yeahhhhh, It sounds freakin good. Still a bit of work left on the down pipes and such then off to the dyno for some fine tuning of Stage 2. I can already tell this is going to be a beast. I can barely wait to get the car back.

I would like to give a shout out to the guys over at Boden Autohaus. Trevor Thompson is the GM and has been absolutely fabulous with ordering everything and making sure all customization is completed in a timely manner. Eric Cheney and the protege Jack has been amazing with the custom one off exhaust systems and fabrication. Chris and Roy have been absolutely fantastic with the Wrap and body work. Patrick did a great job on suspension and other areas as well. You can see that these guys love what they do and there passion for excellent work truly shows. Lastly, Thanks to Josh Esfahani (Owner) for his attention to details. I see Josh always checking on my car and checking on the team throughout the entire process. You can tell he treats customers cars as if they where his own. He takes great pride in the work they do and seems his biggest joy is seeing the smile on the customers face.

In this day in age with so many companies trying to take shortcuts, farming fabrication and custom work to foreign countries like China. It is very refreshing to have found a company that goes above and beyond to deliver the absolute best product and service. Just one example of their excellent service, when I told them I wasn't in love with the sound, they immediately went to work on new set up tailored to my liking, all while not charging me for any previous work done. Most would have charged me for more labor and such as I was the one who told them to do the cat back in the first place. Way to go guys, Keep up the freakin outstanding work. I really appreciate what you have done.

All in all, I am blown away. I absolutely love the way this build came out. Now I just have to wait for the stage 2 performance to be completed. I will be sure to do a nice Video update once its back on the road.

Until then, May we all keep the tires on the road and the pedal on the floor........

    Amazing project, and great post.

Quick question. I have never seen a Canna Di Fucile car. Is the paint a metallic or pearl finish? It looks VERY similar to silverstone.

    Again, your ride looks amazing.

    Awesome build!

Post the sound video...this would be the first known instance of a very good sounding 488. Thank you.
