Hi guys, I bought Capristo sport cats , for my 458 Speciale and my dealer told me that if I want to install them I will have a CEL light !? Anyone have experience with Capristo? Ferrari 458 Catalytic converter » 458 Speciale » Ferrari » Car Models » Capristo Automotive Thanks
Depends on the car, some throw CEL's with race cats, some don't.. NB If you run a max of 98 RON / 93 Aki fuel she most likely will not throw a CEL code, even with race cats. best
Use the extender set(s) for the O2 sensors ... no more CELs ... Our cars are made for RON 95 Carlo, not 98 or even 101. that may cause CELS also ... a RTFM !! It is well described there.
You mean this one ? https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/413N0kfFcpL._SY300_.jpg So if I install this extenders I will never have CEL ???
I installed Capristo 200 cell cats, O2 simulators and heat blankets on my 2015 Speciale about 18 months ago. I'm very happy with the results. It improves the exhaust note considerably, but it is still civilized below 4,000 RPMs I purchased the cats, O2 simulators and heat blankets as a "package" from Vivid Racing (I think they are an fchat sponsor). Like you, I was also concerned about CELs. James at Vivid explained that the O2 simulators talk to the ECUs and somehow eliminates the CELs. I've put about 3,000 miles on my Speciale since the cats were installed without any CEL issues at all. I was very happy with the improved exhaust sound, but after a year I decided I wanted to take one more small step to make the exhaust even more aggressive. I replaced the OEM silencers with Frequency Intelligence Ultimate Race. It improved the sound, but I'm not sure the improvement warranted the $6K cost. Contact James. I'm sure he can do a better job explaining how the O2 simulators stop CELs. BTW, I found a youtube video that explains O2 simulators https://youtu.be/_WIeSdOwmh0 James McKibben - Sales Manager Vivid Racing 1429 W Scott Ave Gilbert, AZ 85233 Tel: 480.966.3040 - Ext: 249 www.vividracing.com
Capristo Exhaust (Erik) installed my 458's 200 cell cats, along with their remote valve controller. I've never had a CEL issue, the car's been driven more than 10K miles. Jim
Contact James at Vivid Racing and ask him for details about a Capristo package for the Speciale that includes "200 cell cats, O2 simulators and heat blankets". When I bought this package from him 18 months ago he never used the term "CLS 1 box". I don't know if that's the same thing as a O2 Simulators or not. [email protected] The Capristo USA website has information on the package I purchased. Ferrari 458 Sports Catalytic Converter | Exhaust System
I bet if you ask Erik you will learn that they installed O2 Simulators along with your cats otherwise you would almost certainly have CEL issues...unless they specifically reprogrammed your ECUs.
Does this system/setup sound anywhere near as good as the now-famous video of the Speciale zooming around Monaco?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3skeFbZV8RU&t=58s
Nothing sounds better than that Marlboro livery Speciale IMHO That Speciale has straight pipes and a Frequency Intelligence back box (silencers). I think an fchat guy (rblissjr) put straight pipes on his Speciale. It sounds spectacular, but it's just a little too extreme for driving on city streets IMHO. That said, 200 cell cats are a reasonable compromise for me. The exhaust volume and tone becomes considerably more aggressive (not insane like straight pipes), but definitely more exciting! And, if you keep your foot out of it, then it is still civilized around town.
Likely correct, sorry, I didn't mean to imply the ONLY additions were the 200's and valve controller, was only commenting I had Capristo's and no CEL issues. I'm sure the O2 sim is installed as well. Jim
Sorry E, I don't. There are certainly exhaust mods that sound as good, and not going to beat straight pipes. I thought I cam across a couple of video's when I was researching the mods, so should be online. I'll post if I find them. Jim
