    Just finished the gumball in the 488. I must say the gumball is a good test of pushing these cars to the limit. We were driving 220-300kph for 10 hrs a day. All Ferraris were pretty reliable on the rally, lambos not so much, lots of breakdowns. Amazing the performance of the 488 compared to the 458. I know we have discussed this before but the stock sound is embarrassing compared the 458. 488 w capristo did sound ok. [​IMG]

    Sorry that you're embarrassed by the sound of the 488...I own a Scud and a 488 and am very satisfied with the sound. Very pleasant aggressive note without being overly obnoxious.

    It's unfortunate because otherwise the car is nearly perfect. The sound up at the top of the range is very quiet.

    I couldn't agree more. I've made this observation before - the whole "488 doesn't sound good" thing has really evolved into a mind of its own. I honestly believe the 488 sounds amazing. That isn't to say that the 458 doesn't sound great too, but I much prefer the throaty growl of the 488. And, quiet, it isn't.

    Ive come around on this one...the 488 spider sounds awesome. Better than my Speciale.

    I'm not trying to make this a sound thread, if anything the performance of the car is superb and bravo for ferrari making this car. Hands down on of the fastest cars on the grid. I was impressed that there was virtually no turbo lag.

    The most effortlessly fast car I have driven. Significantly faster than my 458.

    Couldn't agree more.

    I was concerned before my 488 arrived, but only because of all the negative comments. Now that it is here, I think it sounds brilliant.

    I have the valves pinned open, and although it has a deeper tone, to me it sounds just as good, if not better than my 458.

    Fellow Gumballer!!!! Was great trip, one of the best ones I been on! Albania was sick...I did it in my speciale.....best sound ever! Fell in love with my car on this trip.

    Akrapovic's Titanium Exhaust really does the trick on the 488's twin-turbo V8. It's probably one of the best selling Akra units I sell simply due to the fact that many 488 owners aren't happy with the OEM sound.

    It's only an expensive placebo my friend ..... it will never be the same as a proper 458 .... :)

    Sold My 488, Didn't like the sound. Kept my 458. Great car, just like my 458 more.
