The one major let down on the car IMHO, I did in the end successfully fit a Kenwood Screen system, it was fitted such that it could slide out about 40mm to allow the Screen to fold out and clear the overhang, it could then be closed and slid back into the dash allowing the carbon door to be closed.

    That sounds excellet!

How did you like the Kenwood as a Sat Nav?

    Hmm...

According to the guy in the post you linked, you can still use the CF cover?

Having the the CF door still usable is a must IMO. When not using the sat nav, it would nice to cover it.

BTW...does anyone know which company makes the Sat Nav used in the Audi S3 (which is the same used in the Lamborghini Gallardo).

The satnav in my S3 is BY FAR the best I have ever used. It's almost perfect.

On the other hand, the satnav in the 599 is the worst I have ever used...with the Bentley Continental's coming close.

It almost seems like the price of a car and the quality of the sat nav are inversely proportional

I love the Kenwood Nav, I've carried it over form my 550 and 575, it's the same as in our Landrover Discovery using basically a Denso system, Kenwood still supply this type (DAV3200) but their newer unit is garmin based, I've not used this so can't comment.

Thanks for the good info guys.

No one knows who makes the Audi sat navs?

The 599 is almost "perfect" IMO. It's a shame they didn't put in a decent sat nav.

Here is the information you requested although the company only appears to make oem radios, so I dont believe it will help you with the 599 as the radio requirs specific CAN information just to turn on.

    Hi

I want to install alpine IVA-D106R but i have some questions...
Where is the Nav map? - cd or in memory?
When I use Nav I can also listen to my CD/DVD player?
In Ferrari all the lights are green. Do you have a green lighting in alpine ?

Everything is working properly with this system? I mean bluetooth and sound setings (subwoofer / treble / bass ) ?
Can i use standard nav antenna?

    Sorry for mistakes.

    Waiting for replay

    Best regards
    Tomek

Tomek, The alpine iva-d106 has an optional external hide away nav brain that has the maps in it so you can listen to cd's dvds when navigating. I use the antenna that alpine provides with it but it goes in place of the stock antenna inside the dashboard. Understand the alpine radio going into a 599 is an involved project as the clearance of the screen and the dash is 2.5 inches off /// so a lot of work is involved in the installation. The alpine blue led lights get changed to green to match the stock lighting as this alpine doesn't change colors (this requires a repair technician).... The bluetooth works very well as alpine has had 3 revisions on their bluetooth systems... The only problem with alpine/ferrari installs is the bluetooth module will lock up and it requires a special timer relay to fix it....

    Scott,

Amazing install, was that a custom fabbed piece? I am on the east coast so it would be hard for me to get my car over to you. From the looks of it you guys do some phenomenal work.

The parts you dont see are totally custom including the servo motor and all the drive mechanism etc...so building and shipping it is probably not going to happen... Did you see the video on how it works? It is on my website
