Definately bold...... and gives the car more muscle and an aggressive look. Strictly a personal observation and nothing more.. But I think it overpowers the more elegant features of an HGTE and makes the car look slightly out of balance. Interesting choice just the same.
I think it looks great on this color. I think it would look more out of place on lets say a pozzi 599.
Kenneth- I think they look great and would be a great addition to any color 599. Definitely makes the car look meaner and the extra width and larger tires will help handling and braking. Combined with the HGTE handling package, those wheels and tires should kill any remaining understeer. Taz Terry Phillips
Really nice car!! Love also the yellow shield and caliper! Lower it and it will become perfect for my personal taste! Enjoy
Are they the same size as those on the GTO? If so, is there any problem turning with the wider front tyres?
Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. Would love to lower the car to complete the look but I have already scraped the under carriage slightly on a couple of aggressive speed bumps in Europe :-( The wheels are original GTO wheels so an upgrade to 285 in the front and 315 in the back. I was a bit worried the steering would feel heavier due to the large increase in the front however, I can barely feel it. All in all the car feels incredibly more planted and the traction has improved dramatically probably also partly due to the new excellent rubber. All in all I'm extremely thrilled with this upgrade. Well worth the investment as it has a major impact both visually and also on driving dynamics. Next up is a new stereo. By god the standard radio sucks. I really wanted to keep everything as stock as possible but the agony is overwhelming. Also I'm considering a pair of black Novitech rear lights to complete the stealth look. Opinions? Ken
KW has their hydraulic lifting suspension, just for such occasions. The car will be lower with the springs, but lifts when you need it to.
Would love to see a set of these wheels painted silver on a 599 (or a GTO). Would go with some colors better, I think. Taz Terry Phillips
Doug- The wheels probably cost him $12-15K. Ferrari actually confirmed for him that they would fit a 599. Since the wheels probably cost Ferrari $3-5K, it is no wonder they were more than happy to sell him, or anyone else, a set. Those wheels are really attractive and, with GTO SuperSports, should really improve handling and braking. A bit large for your 612, unfortunately. You should invest in some Mov'It ceramic brakes instead. Taz Terry Phillips
Thank you for the feedback. Its exactly as I was hoping. One thing about those wider tires- especially in the front- you might want to get some protective film on the rockers/ wheel arches because those wider tires will throw more road debris against the bodywork. Have you accessed the equalizer on the stereo? If you have not then its worth a try. This is a difficult car to upgrade the stereo on. I find the stock setup is actually more than good enough so long as you gain access to the equalizer. The biggest issue is the tweeters- they are so recessed- the imaging is restricted. I agree Terry, on a dark car these wheels in "normal" alloy color might work great.
Hello, Your car is very nice with this GTO wheels. I own a 599 GTB F1 in France and I should receive GTO wheels in few days. I still have my 20" challenge wheels. I will post some photo and will give you my feed back too if you want too. Regards,
Hello from France, 2 days ago, I got my wheels for 599 GTO and I put them on my GTB immediatly! First sensation are very positive: the look is more agressive and sportive according to me and the grip on the road is better. Tyres starts to be ground and it become therefore very good -) The varnished black is an optional color. I did not put titanium bolts yet. Some photos as promised.
