Lets be honest, how many of us are keen to get out of bed at 5am on a Saturday, yes I thought so very few but when the menu consists of a GTO, mostly clear roads, some majestic scenery and the 660 bhp V12 the case is quite compelling for an early start.

Added incentive was a 360 spider with a Tubi which would also be coming along for the drive.

I wont say too much more but rather let the scenery and video(when it eventually uploads) speakfor themselves. Suffice to say it was a good morning and a great drive. Was also interesting to take the 550 Barchetta out afterwards.

As always, absolutely gorgeous. Waking up early for a drive in the Ferrari is an easy thing to do. :)

Beautiful scenery around Capetown. I can see why people live there :)

Jacque- Great photos. Only part of Africa I have been to is Libya, which is quite a bit different and not quite as scenic. Beautiful car.

Love it, love it, love it. Beautiful, exotic, dramatic. It's summer there now right? I'm curious, is the ocean around Cape Town warm like the Atlantic or cold like the Pacific?

It's always kind of weird taking pictures while your doing your thing but keep snapping. We all love seeing the cars and the scenery.

Video, this is taken on a road called Chapmans Peak Drive, its a very narrow road, one cant really drive fast here as any mistake wont end well. It does however boast some awesome views and is good for hearing the V12.

Went along here in the 550 Barchetta last weekend, was also quite special.

Sorry for the hand held cam, I am looking at getting a GoPro but the highlight really is the sound!

In Cape Town, because we are a Peninsula, on the one side we have the very cold Atlantic Ocean and the other side we have the much warmer Indian Ocean.

One has to be extremely careful on that road, cyclists, runners, walkers. There is also no room for error, the drop on the one side is sizeable. Despite taking extreme care some didnt seem to like the "noise" of the V12 too much, though they were in the minority as smiles and thumbs far outnumbered any negativity.

Yes, a GoPro camera with some mounts would be a wise purchase.

That was taken from the 550 Barchetta, meant to post that in the 550 section. Barchetta with Tubi rear boxes.

I am from SA too and must admit that Cape Town has some of the most amazing scenery however, experiencing it with the GTO must be absolutely sublime!! :) great video and pictures

Wonderful scenery, but clearly you know just how dangerous SA roads are to drive on under any circumstances! Really frustrates me that even if you get up at 5 am in London, nowhere close at hand to enjoy such a drive.

Don't feel too bad... For me to get to those gorgeous roads, it would take around 15 hours :) sure your F12 in the country must be epic!

Strangely enough most of the roads in this part of the world are safe to drive, the ones out in the country are sublime, no traffic police (those there are seem to have a universal love of Ferrari), well surfaced, fantastic scenery. Well this is the case in this region of SA anyway!

There is a possibility of a fantastic tour in 2017 open to internationals....promises to be a huge amount of fun on some truly epic roads.

The route in the pictures literally starts 10 min from home....
