I know there's been all kinds of threads on wheels & tires for the 612, covering everything from OEM Challenge Wheels to exotic 22" Wheels, with all kinds of tire setups in between.

Some of these wheel / tire combinations may look great, but might also crash your suspension after a few miles of driving down a REAL road.

In upgrading from 245/45/18 and 285/40/19, I've seen some popular routes:
    -19" Front / 20 Rear: Novitec NF2 275/35 R19 - 335/30 R20
    -20" Front / 20 Rear: 599 Challenge Wheels: 255/35 R20 - 325/30 R20
    -20" Front / 21" Rear: Novitec NF3 Wheels: 275/30 R20 - 335/25 R21
    -22" Front / 22" Rear: GFG Wheels: 245/30 R22 - 295/25 R22

What looks good, performs good, but can still take you on a comfortable long trip?

And feel free to post and vet your own wheel / tire setup(s).

i did a few to my 612 since new, mine were all from my 599 or 458s so they didnt cost nothing.
Dont have a favorite rim, but i do like my tire combo now, it rubs in the front making U turns, so i dont recommend them :

that being said, u can never go wrong with the stock 20" challenge option.

    Thanks for the info.

So you did 265/35/20 fronts and 305/30/20s rears?

    Why did you select that size over 255/35 R20 - 325/30 R20?

My 612 came with 245/40/19 front and 285/40/19 rear on the optional OEM HGTS wheels.

Still not sure if going to 20 inch wheels will make much of a difference; as apposed to maybe 20 front and 21 rear.

    Thanks again.

only reason i forced 265/35/20 and 305/30/20s is because i like bridgestone RE070 tires, they are so much better than anything else i tried, that includes the PSS, and they dont come in any other sizes.

I recommend PSS tires with ur sizes : 255/35 R20 - 325/30R20, they will sure grip much better than what u have now and much more comfortable but u need a 20by8.5 front wheel and atleast a 11 to 11.5 rear rim to fit well.

no best rim for the 612, thats personal, plus i think ur stock rims look sexy enough. I think u should just try slightly bigger PSS tires on ur stock rims and will still be amazed by the change.
oh yea, and some rear spacers like what i have, do wonders too.

but heres a preview on what im gonna do next :

Thinking of fitting challenge rims from a 599 to my 612. Currently I have 19" OEM modular. It's clear the 599 rims will fit although I note that the OEM challenge 20" option for the 612 are narrower at the rear ie 10J rather than 11J. I have two questions. First how do the tyre pressure sensor fit? Do they unbolt? Does it make more sense to buy new ones rather than transfer the sensors from my existing wheels? Second question is re tyres to fit 599 challenge rims: looks like 245/35/20 front and 305/35/20 rear if I want to maintain as much ride comfort as possible. Anyone agree?

Hi there! Just upgrading the 19" split rims OEM on my 2006 Scag to 20" challenge rims from a 599. They will fit and I think are the same as the later optional 20" challenge rims for the 612 except the rears are 1" wider. It seems the tyres to fit are the standard 599 ones ie 245/35/20 front and 305/35/20 rear. Comfort is important. Does anyone who has done this have the same view? Or a better view? Also which brand to go for? Currently on Bridgestones and are happy with them (not run flats).

The 599 Challenge wheels are a perfect fit on the 612, with the rear offsets putting 1/2 inch on the inside and outside of the wheelwell. OEM 612 tire sizes will fit if you are interested in a good compromise between performance and ride, 245/35 20 and 285/35 20, both of which sizes are available in Michelin Pilot Super Sports, the best street ultra performance summer tire available. If you want a more performance oriented set-up, change the rear tires to 295/35 20, or even 315/35 20, for less understeer. The latter is 2.9% larger than the OEM 285/35 20 size, which will not affect your ABS.

For our Charlotte friend, this is also what I would recommend for his 612, and Exoticar had sets of the 599 wheels for around $4500 last time I checked.

With respect, the wider rear tires won't help the understeer. If anything, it will be more pronounced.

I bought a set of 599 Challenge wheels, the rear ones are 11". How about MPSS 295/35/20, do they fit well without any spacers to 612 HGTC? ( Nothing wrong with mint condition orginal 19" modular wheels with new Pirellis. )

Fin- Those 295/35 20s should work fine and 285/35 20s fit those wheels, too.

For what it's worth I mounted PSS 315 on the rear OEM 599 rims on my 612 and they will rub in full droop. Went with 305 in the rear, no problem. Running Continental Extreme Contact and very happy with ride and performance.
