i now call the inaugural meeting of the socal 599 club to order. the first order of business is to figure out why we all have rosso corso / beige cars. oh yeah, they look great!
It's simply marvelous. It's just perfect and the power is always on tap. It does everything so well that it's just such a complete package. I grew up around domestics and we still own and collect quite a few of them. Then I went through a bunch of MB's, and now this is my first Ferrari. I expect this to be the start of a new trend Rosso Corsa has always been my fav on Ferraris and I just couldn't pass this car up once I saw it. The colors and options were exactly how I would have spec'd this car. I actually checked out a white HGTE a few months ago which was MINT (the one LewSF bought) but due to a personal matter I decided to wait. Worked out great since both cars are on this board now!
Nice one. Not a fan of the pentagram rims but that is personal. Enjoy, drive as much as you can because it is a wonderful car equipped with a mighty V12
I actually like the pentagram wheels which were designed for the 599. Looks like you got the carbon trim on the door panels and the light brown inserts for the daytona seats is unique to. Nice spec and of course Rosso Corsa!
Thanks guys. I appreciate your kind words. I was never a fan of the pentagram wheels in pictures, yet I instantly fell in love with them when I saw them in person. The spokes are slightly convex which contrasts with the concave wheel center, giving an interesting 3D-ish effect. They are keepers!
My car is of a similar color combination, but the doors are all tan, no black or carbon inserts. Does anyone have a source for either new or used parts where I could obtain the door inserts?
The 599 has really started to grow on me I may decide to pick one up one of these days... How is the shifting on this car compared to a 430 scud or a regular 430?
Thanks for the kind words guys The initial new-ness to me has started wearing off and the car is still as exciting and fabulous as before. That means she'll be here for a looong time. I've only has brief experience with the F430 (and none with a Scud) but the transmission feel is similar. It's supposed to be slightly faster but the difference is so minute that it's hard to discern a tangible difference. Also the difference in power takes up most of your attention anyway. If you like linear power at any rpm, this car is for you. Lewis (LewSF) will be able to better to point out the differences between them as he owned an F430 Scud prior to his current 599 HGTE.
Thanks for posting such a beauty. One of many pictures I looked at closely when considering a Ferrari. A special thanks to all the members for all the invaluable information here. I spent quite a bit of time lurking and reading older threads when trying to make up my mind. My happiest purchase yet.
