Starting to look for a GT and interested in opinions of anyone who considered either a Maserati GT or Aston Martin before getting a 599 or 612. A 599 would be perfect but not sure if the difference in money is 'worth' it. This would be in addition to a F430.

Doesn't the Maserati GT have the same (similar?) engine as an F430 anyway? I don't see a benefit of having two cars with similar powerplants.

612 would be a nice compliment to F430. Both are part of the same front line of Ferraris that sold during the 2000 - 2010 decade.

If you want a 599, then get a 599. I would try and test drive both a 612 and a 599, and see which one you like more. Personally, I prefer the 612, but I guess that's why I own one.

The power difference between an F430 and a 599 is substantial. Way more powerful and torquey. Plus F1 Superfast, which is 100 ms shifting vs 150 ms for the F430.

The 599 is so much more car than the Maserati. As Roupin says, the 430 and the Maserati are close.

My solution was a 2011 Maserati Cabriolet and a 2008 599. Solves everything except the purpose of a right arm... Incredible performance difference with a hardtop yet the open car for "those days".

Looking for a gated six speed 430 or 599 to finish off the basics.

F430 and Maserati might be close in power but nothing alike in character. F430 is a 500-hp Lotos Elise...light, vibrant, charismatic, fast, neutral and exhilarating.

The Maserati is more like a cheaply built Mercedes CL or SL. Frankly, Maserati feels like a Ford to me...hollow, cheap, unresolved.

05 612 and 13 granturismo sport in the garage. Either has more torque than your f430. 612 is a v12 with great torque and the gt has a heavily modified f430 motor with a cross plane crank and 10% more displacement. They each have their pluses and detractors. How and when do you plan to use it? How much or little attention do you want? Would you enjoy not having a clutch to worry about sometimes but still play F1 really well? 612 is the value and nothing can substitute for a ferrari v12, but is that a decision point?

To be honest, I have to agree. Initial presentation is stunning but there are some seriously wtf cheap points that make me certain I'll never buy another.

EDIT: That being said, the car is stunningly gorgeous inside and out with the best stock exhaust note I've heard from any car short of a 599 GTO.

Edit edit. That should have said that I'm certain I'll never buy another "new". Or maybe a freudian slip.
