The steering rack blocks the crank pulley from being removed on the 612. So you have to drop the full rack first to get the belts off. Image Unavailable, Please Login

OK, I am really curious. You call this a major service. Obviously you are changing the timing belts, and I am sure the plugs. What other items comprise this major service? BTW, thanks for posting all those pics. Very interesting!
Dan- The factory timing marks are on the back of the cams from the factory on 575s and 612s, which you already knew. You need a mirror to see them. How close were they? The ones on my 575M were pretty much dead on.
Clean fuel injectors, change all fluids, and most expensively by the books you're supposed to do the cam seals as well. Don't recall what else.
Looks to me like the rear cam cover end caps have been left in place. They are a serious bugger to remove. I did the same thing on the first on I did. When it came for reassembly, I couldn't bring myself not to replace those gaskets. I ended up sliding the entire engine, trans etc forward to get access to those pesky fasteners. Pain in the butt..
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/612-599/413066-612-running-costs-2.html#post142395907 I posted this up last year after mine, straight out of the book from FoW.
Andy- 30,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first, for the cambelt changes. Other items vary, but a lot is usually done at the 5 year point "because you are in there", so the belt change and concurrent maintenance is commonly referred to as the "major".
