Just wondering if anyone has done this themselves, i plan to have a go next week as have the 2 'spanners' to wind the coil mounts down, does anyone know the ratio of turns to mm lowered, ie how many turns for 15mm or 20mm?

    Regards

    Mark

Mark- Make sure after you do that you have a full four wheel suspension alignment done by somebody with shims for adjusting camber. Changing ride height will affect camber and toe.

My early 612 WSM is missing the images, so cannot show you exactly where to measure ride height, but it is from the chassis on 612s, and not the suspension flanblocks like it was on the 456s and Maranellos. No estimate on how many turns. You may have to compress the spring to get that ring nut to turn. Do not lower more than 15-20 mm or you will get the shock absorber working out of its optimum range. You should be able to measure before and after height of the nut from the bottom of the shock.

Hi Taz- Yes i do plan to have it all aligned after lowered and i was going to buy some shims so they have them.

I did have a little look at it today but could not do it as the larger 'spanner' i have was not quiet the right size, it was the larger one listed for the 348 and i took a chance it would work on the 612 but it was 6mm too large, cause i cannot find the top larger one listed for the 612. I think when i do find the correct larger 'spanner' i will let my mechanic do it cause the tension on the spring is obviously a lot and would really benefit to be clamped. On a plus note my new wheels do look spot on , just needs to be lowered now, was hoping to do it as i put wheels but not as easy i a hoped!

Mark- How about some photos with the new wheels? What type did you fit? Putting new factory modulars on my 575M this week. At least half a set.

On suspension work, I always prefer to have an expert do it. Especially since alignment is often a juggling act between ride height and camber.

I think someone makes an adjustable ring nut tool, but I forget who.

Here is a quick teaser just for you (cause i dont think anyone else is reading this post), once the car is lowered it will then have a photo shoot done by the brand of these wheels for their marketing, so when i have these i will post a new thread with some pics.

The wheels are Ispiri ISR6 ,20x8.5" et35 front with 245/35/20 and 21x11" et45 (with 5mm spacer) with 295/30/21 .The fitment was custom made for me.

Let me know what you think! I think it gives the car a much more modern and current look and a more 'super car' look!

Mark- I like them and they make her look smaller, especially compared to the OEM 18" and 19" wheels, which can make 612s look sort of dachshundish.

Thanks Taz, yes i know what you mean and also thought this, the car is so big and long that it can easily take these wheels and not look silly and make the car look more in proportion!

Mark- Thanks for not getting them in black, too. Folks pay a fortune for wheels, paint them black, and then nobody can see them. Guess you can tell I am an old fart. I prefer silver wheels.

No, I'm reading, I just can't answer your question! :)

The wheels look good, but what were your original wheels?

No, Taz is definitely NOT the only one keeping an eye on this thread!! Love it, very interested to see more pics and to hear if your ride has ben affected at all. The fact that my 06 612 (manual) drives so perfect is the only reason that I haven't gone forward with the lowering of the suspension.

    Very nice.

What is the ride quality like?

Can you get over speed bumps?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks, it had the 19" Modular wheels on it, which to me just look very dated!

Thanks for all the other comments and regarding the ride to me it is fine, it does not actually feel that different, maybe a little firmer over the small stuff but really not that bad.

This car is a weekend car and does very little miles (only on 18,000) so for me the look is more important than the ride, i now feel the car looks more like the super car it is, because wheels are my business all my cars have had big wheels (BMW M6 on 21's and 997T on 20's!) so i am used to having a firmer ride! Even my daily work van is very low on 19's!

I concur, and I'm not an old fart, yet(39). Silver, polished ect. for me. I even like gold and bronze coloured wheels in some cases. But flat black and grey ect.? It's like asking a beautiful girl with perfect legs to put on a pair of black pantyhose and a long dress. It just doesn't fly.

    Nice car.

John- So far I remember you installing HGTE and 458 wheels on your 612. Any others? Most of the 612 and later wheels are pretty interchangeable, with at most a 1/2" difference in offsets, as long as you do not go narrower than OEM.
