As you may have seen on my other post, I am rebuilding a 2006 612 which got hydrolocked.

I found that the AC compressor is leaking. It looks like it has already been rebuilt as it has a rebuild sticker type thing on it with a 2011 date.

Anyone know who I can contact to rebuild such compressors? Anyone know the brand and model #? I can't seem to find anything on the compressor itself.

    Thanks,

    - Jason

Many years ago when my A/C went out on my 456GT, the local independent shop doing the repairs said, "we can replace the unit, it will cost $1,800 or we can replace it with an aftermarket unit for $350." Which I said, "what's the difference?" To which he said, "one says Ferrari and the other one says Sanden." I went with the Sanden, which apparently was Ferrari's supplier.

    Hope this helps,

It's tips like this that takes the sting out of repairs and makes owning Ferrari's not so painful. It would be great if someone could start a thread with these various components and their "normal" counterparts! Starter, A/C, Alternator, wiper motor, Clutch components etc...

Thanks. So does anyone know who makes this AC compressor and what model # it may be?

It doesn't look much different than the one in my wife's GMC envoy!

    It may be.
I was told the one in my Daytona is still used in some old combine harvesters and as such all parts were readily available!

Try this guy and see if he does 612 compressors, too. From the FCA newsletter.

For 456/550/575: Remanufactured A/C compressor and after-market drier.
Compressor has been completely remanufactured with genuine Harrison–
Delphi parts. Most rebuilders only change seals, $895 on an exchange
basis (I need your old compressor and drier). Core exchange deposit will
be considered. Steven (856)354-1213, e-mail: [email protected] (NJ).

Looked it up and, at least for early 612s, the 575M and earlier 65 deg V12s use the same compressor.

Incidentally, the two lines should read cc cubed and 9 and 151. Did not proof what I copied from an early 612 workshop manual.

    Just as a follow-up...

As part of my 612 engine overhaul (if you have followed that thread), I have also had to address the AC compressor.

I had worked with a place in the past (on my Alfas) that I reached out to. AC Parts in Rockwall, TX. They have completely rebuilt my 612 compressor (and also re-surfaced the clutch), for the whopping price of $380. Six-month warranty.

I worked with a guy names Richard.

The next best price (from the guy who I was steered to that advertises on the forum) was $830. So I got it done for less than half of that!

Anyway, pass it on. Likely can work on just about any Ferrari compressors.
