The first of probably many question. There is a name plate on the dash with the previous owners name. First choice would be to remove it totally. Looks like that would be difficult due to indentation in dash. Any ideas as I don't want to replace with a plate with my name although not sure that is even possible.
Go to city hall and change your name . Sorry, i do not know if it's easily removable. I would think yes, but this is Ferrari we are talking about. Congrats on the car, very aggressive. Do you have spacers on the front or is it just the angle of the pics?
Where on the dash- if its near the glove box like I think it is then you can get a "599 GTO" badge from the dealer.
Here is an idea you may or may not like...you could simply "wrap" the plate with someting you like better...Then you don't have to remove it..if you don't like how it looks "wrapped" one way then you could try a few different ways..Perhaps an Italian Flag? or just a solid color? Maybe even something that says "599 GTO"
Congrats!! If it's the small plate on the left side of the dash above the headlight knob, it's held on with two screws from the back of the panel and removing it will leave you with two nasty holes in the leather and a weird crease. You can have a thin metal plate engraved at any trophy shop with your choice of content and stick it in the plate with double sided tape. From memory I think the plate is 1.25" X 2"
You can order a blank owner's dedication piece from Ferrari and have it engraved or leave it blank. Part number is 69863000. Only $500 or so from one of the UK parts sources since Ricambi did not have it priced. Taking it off and having the old owner's name removed by a jeweler and then having him refinish it might be a little more affordable.
Congratulations. Drive it hard and as often as you can but always with the necessary respect. Cheers, M
Thanks everybody for the kind comments. Thanks Taz. I think I'll order it blank and have it engraved with something other than my name. Not a big fan of that. Do a lot of Ferrari owners buy the plate with their name on it? If most do than I would rethink it. Maybe just put the number that is on the engine on it. Not sure what it signifies but must be something. Interesting solution LOL No spacers unless put on by original owner. No, it is the plate on the far right near glove box. Do you know if it held on in the same manner?
Would you be able to put up a picture of it? If it's pressing into the leather rather than just sitting on the surface, then it's most probably held on with screws.
Hmmmmm…some self-absorbed guy thought he'd own the car 4-ever. What a trashy gift to leave the new owner. I'd definitely get that out of the car and attempt to get an official badge for the car or else see if Ferrari has any other ideas….perhaps they have one of the "World Championship" placards lying around?
Best looking gto ive seen. Congrays!!! Saw one while ago in Monaco and fell in love with rossa corsa and black roof.
Love the color combo. Congrats! How about putting the chassis number on the name plate so that the next owner doesn't have to change the plate again, though I doubt that you will ever get rid of this awesome beauty.
i see ur in the pittsburgh area. Are you bringing her to the PVGP this weekend. The italian cortile will welcome this 599 gto. If you need access/ info pm me..
