I sold my 512BB and have placed a deposit on a 599 (09) 3200 miles. Now, I also have an opportunity to purchase an 07 ( 10,000 miles) with a 6 speed manual. Luckily there at the same location.

    I am looking for feedback.

Drive both and see which one you like best. Both take a little familiarity to drive smoothly and their owners like both shifter systems. The three pedals are very rare.

Wow. The rarest of the rare. There are several threads on the 599 manual. My recollection is that several owners have described their 599 manuals as incredible and loved them. You should search for those threads. Others have reported the opinion that the car was not designed with manual in mind and does not fit the engine etc.

I was struck by the observation that many of these mythical cars seemed to have short times of ownership.

I offer no direct experience but suggest you search these threads.

I personally would love to drive it and see for myself as the last six speed front engine 12 Ferrari would seem to be a keeper.

Go for the manual, if you can.

Manual transmission on a modern Ferrari is rare for sure.

Of course, make sure you drive them both, as Taz suggested.

Best of luck. Wish I had your dilemma!
